Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
Slightly different question to who you think is going to win and how..
Simple question of who you want to win?
Who will you be cheering for regardless of who you THINK will win?

I actually like both, but am (marginally) predicting a Groves win so I suppose I want him to win.

Id like to see Groves spark Jr. I hate all his strutting just as i hated his dads strutting too, so it will be a little bit of satisfaction to see jr knocked out.
Saying that it isnt going to happen.
Jr will stop Groves late on somehere around the 7th.

Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
I like both fighters & am not bothered that much who wins the tournament but I would prefer Groves to get the lot.
Part of me is still irked by the silly stoppage in the first Froch fight.
Saying that, I like both Eubank & Smiff so just want to see great fights.
And I have no idea as to who's going to win this bout. Gun to head I'd go with Eubank but

Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
Going forward, as we all must, then for the pure good of the sport it would be good for Eubank to win I suppose, it opens up so many possibilities and I'm intrigued that he thinks he can drop down to 160 and back up again. As a sentimental old git however, I hate to see an experienced honest campaigner like Saint George get ironed out too soon, especially after some of the great nights he's given us.
So I hope the old lion GG sparks the young upstart!

Can’t see anything other than Eubank Jnr being too much for Groves - especially down the stretch with stamina issues.

Im a big fan of Groves and I think a defeat here would be the end of his career mentally. Eubank has looked rock solid in terms of durability and stamina so I think hes a bad matchup for Groves and I think he wins. I think id prefer Eubank to win because although I like Groves, I feel like ive had my run with groves and Eubank has the potential to have some pretty exciting fights. Id also love to see the looks on the smiths faces when callum is taking a hiding from eubank

Eubank Jr is being ridiculously hyped imo. His resume is pretty weak and he’s been matched extremely carefully. The only time he stepped up he lost.

I’d prefer GG to win but I do like to watch both of them box so don’t really mind
Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
I'm rooting for groves. Been a fan since he has been a pro. I'd like him to spark eubank the way he sparked gonzalez
Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
This is exactly how I feel about junior and also as much as I'd like to see his arse handed to him , it ain't going to happen !
Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
My sentiments entirely. This notion of him stopping groves baffles me. I too feel George got royally screwed in Froch 1 and think he's a likeable chap. I was there in Sheffield when he won the title and was delighted. I really hope he wins.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑31 Jan 2018, 17:24 Eubank Jr is being ridiculously hyped imo. Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
Rooting for Groves. Had his ups and downs but has always been willing to step in with decent fighters.
Adamu in his 9th fight, DeGale in his 13th, a much more experienced Paul Smith in his 14th. Refreshingly, in between world title shots he's taken on decent enough fighters in the likes of Rebrasse, Gutknecht, Brophy, Murray etc. Not calling them world beaters but when you see the kind of fights the likes of Paul Smith takes after losses and expects another shot it's good to see Groves always backs himself to beat decent competition. Then there's the 2 Froch fights, Jack in Vegas and finally beating Chudinov in a good fight to become champion. Suppose the world title win would be the ultimate high but after the Froch fights I think it'd be nice to see him come out on top in one of these proper cross over fights, deserves more than to be remembered by casuals as the guy that lost to Froch and Eubank.
As others have alluded to Eubank's career has felt much more manufactured until this point. The Golovkin debacle didn't help in my eyes. He might prove me wrong if he beats Groves by going on to fight the best names, but until he shows that then I'm sceptical. I don't doubt that he's a talented fighter and he may well beat Groves, but I'm definitely rooting for George.
