100-0 Combined Record. How many times in history(if any)

Post by JoeHipp »

I'm messing with a boxing sim and had a match up of 2 undefeated fighters which totaled 100-0.

Richardo Lopez 51-0 vs Chayaphon Moonsri 49-0

In real life what fights had this qualification? 100-0

The closest I can think of is Julio Cesar Chavez who was 68-0 heading into his fight with Meldrick Taylor who was 24-0-1 heading into their bout.

If Pernell Whitaker hadn't bee jobbed by the judges in his first fight with Jose Luis Ramirez his bout with Chavez would've featured unbeaten fighters with beyond a 100-0 unbeaten record between them.

Whitaker by all rights should've been undefeated heading into that bout...and he should've won the bout with Chavez as well.

Damn near all by KO too. If I recall Zarate had won all but one of his bouts by KO at that time, and Zamora had won all 29 of his bouts by KO coming in.

Zarate ended up taking it with better skills. Some total. I’m sure there’s another high total further back but can’t quite remember (Amnesia Haze)

Zarate-Zamora were a combined 74-0.
Holmes-Spinks were a combined 75-0.

Believe or not the record might be Chavez-Marty Jakubowski (whoever that was.) They were a combined 120-0.

Chavez was 67-0 when he beat 44-0 Alberto Cortes in late '89.

What always bothered me about the Chavez record was an early career DQ loss that was subsequently expunged from his record by his manager who also sat on the Board of the Culiacan boxing commission and changed to a KO win. I believe he hit the dude after the bell causing the DQ. So anything on this subject matter involving Chavez should also contain that asterisk. The best dual records I found was the bout between Nino Benvenuti and Ki Soo Kim which would have been 87-0-2.

Marcel Cerdan vs Laverne Roach

Cerdan was 105-2 and Roach was 24-1

Not quite what you are looking for, but that is ridiculously close, with a combined 129-3-0.

I remember watching that fight on telly & being incredulous at the result. Sweet Pea won almost every round.

Hard to believe it was over 30 years ago :verysad:
