Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
groves. want to see the eubanks fall flat on their faces. hate their publicity, statements, and their whole public image.
if eubank ever gets hold of a major world title they will be a nightmare to deal with, and probably end up fighting a long list of no hopers , has beens, never weres , etc.
i really dont understand all the love for eubank, nor the favour. he has fought no one other than an unfit bjs...where he was clowned for 6 rounds( if he fought him now he would be clowned for 12 rounds) . groves is 1 year older and has fought them all, and is a proven competitor at the highest level. unless groves is finished, or has some problem that he is hiding, he will beat eubank easily. hopefully by ko.

I literally feel exactly this about Eubank Jr - I cannot see a way in which he wins this at all.Terminator666 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 18:15 How does Groves win this? Don’t see any scenario where he does- think he will give his all but comes up short

I'm not as unequivocal as you but a 100% certainty for Groves makes more sense to me than the oppositeMarkMcBurney wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 04:13I literally feel exactly this about Eubank Jr - I cannot see a way in which he wins this at all.Terminator666 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 18:15 How does Groves win this? Rooting for George but if he were to lose I’ll be excited about the future of Eubank.

I'm seeing some predictions that seem totally bizarre to me. I'm seeing people predict Eubank on points WIDE. O just don't get it.MarkMcBurney wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 04:13I literally feel exactly this about Eubank Jr - I cannot see a way in which he wins this at all.Terminator666 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 18:15 How does Groves win this? That's a good question - to of my favourites.... shame its not the final in someways. Both exciting, both flawed.

Plus Froch was coming on strong and had proven form of being able to carry that until the final bell - Groves was being worn down and would have been stopped regardless.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 02:42The thing is groves never really troubled froch after his initial success early on and his shots had less on them as the fight wore on.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 22:18But how many of those guys had Groves' power? There's no question he was hurt, but like you say — a few more seconds and he might've found another big shot. As much as he looked like an imminent canvas-tripper, he wasn't given that chance.

Groves.
Eubank snr was a hero of mine as a kid and I admire how they refuse to be told what to do by promoters and be thankful, but his boy is full of it and it’s unwarranted, despite him undoubtedly improving over the years and reaching an impressive level.
I think Groves will knock him out.

Saint George. Loved his performance in Froch 1, he was brilliant and really beat Carl up for six rounds. Really felt for him when Lee Froch, all pleathered up, goaded him live on Sky.

We'll never know what would have happened as Foster ended the fight prematurely.johnswan1 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 10:52Plus Froch was coming on strong and had proven form of being able to carry that until the final bell - Groves was being worn down and would have been stopped regardless.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 02:42The thing is groves never really troubled froch after his initial success early on and his shots had less on them as the fight wore on.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 22:18

He made his mind up before they stepped in the ring.

Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
I don't think that is true.
Foster is generally a good ref, I think he saw that Groves' eyes were rolling, and wanted to protect him from a beating, perhaps a little premature, but I don't think it was premeditated at all.
By contrast, when Froch went down in the 1st fight, despite the fact it was a heavy knockdown, his eyes were clear and he looked like he was fully aware of his surroundings, his legs were unsteady, and he was clearly shaking off the cobwebs a bit, but he was clearly mentally clear. He also wasn't under a really sustained assault where he looked disorganised at any point.

Foster is a great ref who had decided beforehand to 'protect' Groves from serious harm.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑02 Feb 2018, 12:17 I don't think that is true.

One little stagger and he ended it. He made a mistake.

Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
i haven't re-watched it but i do think I recall Froch taking some serious stick in one of the middle rounds, not to Duke McKenzie 'he's gone!' levels though IIRC
Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
I Don't get how anyone like Eubank. I like Groves, I really hope he gets an emphatic win
Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
froched look hurt and weary and even gunshy for several rounds in the first groves fight. by far the most vulnerable ive seen him. he took a while to come into it. i think by the end groves had lost steam on his shots and wasnt going to hurt him big again though

I think froch was robbed of an all time great comeback KO win. Groves was hurt badly but it didnt look like he was as hurt as he was if you know what I mean. He was ready to go. I dont think he gets out of that round.

Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
I don’t really care who wins (unless they are a Scot or Danny Williams I generally never have) but I honest believe that Groves scuds Eubank here, and I realise that’s a minority view. I just don’t see anything in Eubank that makes me especially impressed.
I mind years ago watching Abraham at middleweight and just not understanding what all the hype was about, he just looked like a very tough plodder who got some fairly generous decisions and fought some uninspiring opposition. Eubanks a different fighter but I view him in the same way. Nowt special. Groves batters him either late or wide on the cards IMO

If Eubank wins this, I think it would clearly be his defining win.

Watch: Chris Eubank Sr. forced to step in, save sparring partner from brutal Chris Jr. beating
The Brighton man, in camp for his World Boxing Super Series semi-final on February 17, dished out some punishment in a segment for talkSPORT.
Father Chris Sr., himself a former two-weight world title holder, had to step in TWICE as things threatened to get out of control with boxer Craig McCarthy.

Using his trademark combinations and crushing uppercuts, Eubank Jr. was clearly in the mood for a scrap before the training session was halted prematurely. The Eubank camp allowed talkSPORT to film a sparring session, but @ChrisEubank had to jump in and stop it to calm @ChrisEubankJr downpic.twitter.com/zxw9HTB3Mk

Re: Groves vs. Eubank Jr: Who Are You Rooting For?
Eubank won’t know what’s hit him when Groves lands. He’s a much bigger puncher than anything he has faced. His jab should give Eubank all kinds of trouble toofizzjambo wrote: ↑03 Feb 2018, 09:06 I don’t really care who wins (unless they are a Scot or Danny Williams I generally never have) but I honest believe that Groves scuds Eubank here, and I realise that’s a minority view. Wow, I’m definitely convinced Eubank Jr will win now. What a fortunate coincidence that TalkSport were able to capture the entire incident on film.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Feb 2018, 09:32 Watch: Chris Eubank Sr. forced to step in, save sparring partner from brutal Chris Jr. beating
