GBP president Eric Gomez is also on board, supposedly, with signing a matchup between 2 aging but still capable and recognized fighters.
"Let's do it, No problem," Gomez said. "Have Bob Arum call us. Either Oscar (De La Hoya) or myself. But yeah, we can do it. We can get a deal done."
Reality or a pipe dream?
Would Arum have any interest in going outside his own stable of TR fighters to make a potentially exciting fight happen? Is Gomez as enthusiastic as he seems, or would Golden Boy also prefer not to work with an outside promotional company? Especially Arum's.
Gomez says "No problem." But I suspect there would be plenty.
Pacquiao is still expected to face Mike Alvarado in April, in a fight nobody wants to see.
