Price 11/1 to beat Povetkin

Post by SteveDow »

Worth a cheeky tenner? Like most I'm expecting Price to get stopped but I think there may be a touch of value in Price here given his power.

Is Price's power perhaps a little overrated?

Who has he actually stopped?

He isn’t even a 25-1 shot, and imo Povetkin is done as well!

There is absolutely no value in a Price win IMO. Save your money :TU:

Fair point but I think it was more to do with the way he was stopping folk at British level. He did have some brutal looking stoppages when he was a confident fighter. He's just so tentative now. Paws the jab, doesn't set his feet to land his big shots. Pov is gonna starch him but I suppose it's worth a spare fiver if you can afford it. 11-1 after all.

I've seen worse 11/1 shots to be honest. I think Cornish was shorter than that to beat AJ.

After 30 seconds, many thought big gar was going to land that bet.

If you can beat best price on the week of the fight you're on! I expect there may be some 20s around then.

The only thing which makes me wonder about this fight is that Price is going in for the first time as an outsider, and a massive one at that. He can't be unaware of this.

He had the weight of expectation on him when he fought Thompson and Hammer and fell apart. Whilst I expect Povetkin to win early I wonder if Price will acknowledge his limitations and just go for broke early. It seems his only chance surely?

It seems very strange to me that he was expected to beat Hammer.

It's a very valid point that it is the first time Price will be an underdog. A quick check back of the odds he was in some of his biggest fights brings up some pretty interesting results:

Thompson 1: Price was a 1/10 favourite

Thompson 2: Price was a 1/4 favourite

Teper: Price was a 3/10 favourite

Hammer: Price was a 3/10 favourite

Clearly the bookies have now acknowledged his failings in pricing up the Povetkin fight but based on the previous odds they have offered 11/1 doesn't seem terrible given that even following bad defeats they still rated him pretty highly.

No, he will try to outbox povetkin for 12 rounds and gas after 3 rounds and get stopped on his feet again after giving up. Similar to Thompson 2 and hammer. If he said im going to go in and go for it for 3 rounds id give him a chance but povetkin is pretty solid anyway and price is a pitter patter puncher these days. He doesn't commit to punches and one thing people are forgetting is that povetkin is pretty intimidating. Price will be terrified in there.

Hammer isn't very good. So I can see why folk thought Price would win.

Price should just treat this like a one round fight, throw big bombs and hope he can rough Pov up.

Hammer had clearly beaten they guy who humiliated Price in two rounds.

Hammer should have been the favourite not a big underdog.

Why was Price being rated so highly?

Yes, that guy sucks too.

Hey, my money was on Hammer vs Price, I'm just saying it's understandable people thought Price would win. He almost did.

Exactly. He had both Thompson and Hammer a second or so away from being KO'd and so whilst his defeats in both went on to look feeble in that they both ended with him gassing out and basically giving up he is dangerous early on if he throws his shots.

11/1 is not attractive enough imo. Thats a very weak bet. I would possibly put a daft 50p win if the price was something like 50/1.

I would be interested to know what price you could get for Povetkin to knock Price out in under 2 minutes. Possibly within the first 90 seconds.

What are we reckoning Price will getting paid for this? I'd imagine it's costing them a fair few quid getting Povetkin to come over although I suppose it's being sold to him as an easy night's work and the a guaranteed summers shot at AJ.

I reckon Price may be getting about £50k.

yeah, if you think price has a chance you might as well just back him in rd 1 at 66/1, because if he has a brain he'll understand he has to just blow his load in the first and hope something big can catch Pov off guard.

Yep. If you want to have a bet on a Price, look at round 1, round 2 and round 3 stoppage prices.

Personally would want huge huge odds to even be remotely interested. I don’t think he lands a punch in this one and gets done in the first.
