Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Briggs taunted Deontay Wilder after claiming the WBC king turned down the chance to fight him.
“He’s scared of me champ, he turned down a $2million offer from my team. I got proof, I don’t need to make up stories. I’ve been doing this for 31 years, I know when a man is afraid of me, I can smell it. I was born to do this.”
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ is scheduled to take on Luis Ortiz in his next outing in April in New York on March 3. And the ‘Cannon’ has predicted Wilder to have too much for ‘King Kong.’
“Wilder should be great in that fight, everything he touches goes to sleep. But then again, so does Ortiz. He’s a friend of mine and you really can’t count him out.
"At the same time, I don’t want to throw him under the bus but Wilder has strong momentum, he’s a wrecking ball right now.
“I just think he’ll have too much for Ortiz but after they’ve fought, I want Wilder. He doesn’t like the champ and the champ doesn’t like him so let’s get it on. There isn’t no love lost, LET’S GO CHAMP.”

Well considering Briggs hasn't fought in 20 months. And just served a suspension for drugs. I seriously doubt any champ will be facing him. 2 million bucks or not

He offered this several years ago, even before the Hugie Fury fight against Wilder. A fight Wilder denied as well, to fight against Duhaupas instead, Hughie was too risky. Just before Szpilka Briggs offered it again, but got denied again. But at least that time Szpilka was higher ranked, so that was a reasonable excuse to avoid a record payday against Briggs.

Maybe Briggs should start stalking Wilder and make some more of those terrific promotional videos which were so successful in landing him a fight with Klitschko.

He has done and then Wilder got scared and said Briggs wasn't serious and walked away, later Wilder his team even offered to fight for 200k, Briggs accepted, then they said oke, we call you back. Then they said, no, you can only get 100k, Briggs accepted, oke, we'll call you back. Then they said, no, only 50k, Briggs accepted and said l even fight you for free, oke, we'll call you back. They never called back again...SenorPipino wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 13:49 Maybe Briggs should start stalking Wilder and make some more of those terrific promotional videos which were so successful in landing him a fight with Klitschko.
Wilder never wanted to fight any riskfactor, so I don't know what he knows about Ortiz, bit I don't expect that fight to happen either.
Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
you can tell briggs really actually has no confidence. if he did hed fight someone decent to gain some credibility. hes just using his mouth like a guy who knows his body wont earn him big fights anymore

Well, if nobody dares to fight you, you're simply stuck, it's easy as that.jamamb wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 18:27 you can tell briggs really actually has no confidence. if he did hed fight someone decent to gain some credibility. hes just using his mouth like a guy who knows his body wont earn him big fights anymore

Talking out of your ass as usual I see. It was Fury that turned the fight down, because he wanted a full eight weeks to train, instead of the 7.5 weeks he had when the fight was offered.asdfjkl wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 11:45 He offered this several years ago, even before the Hugie Fury fight against Wilder. Briggs is nothing more than a juiced up insignificant loudmouth.

Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Briggs was unable to come up with the money for a minimum offer for the Oquendo fight. The minimum was 1 million for a WBA Heavyweight sanctioned title fight purse. The fighters then went to purse bid and settled on a lower amount.
Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Briggs just wants a big payday, how the Hell is his team offering anyone 2 million dollars? He doesn't even want to face a live body to get it. A couple of years after retirement, Madison wanted to fight him for some beef they had gotten into, and Briggs refused that. Briggs is nothing more than a side show attraction.....

Why doesn't Briggs shut his pie hole up and actually start fighting instead of just seeking attention by talking about all the fights he wants?
Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Because he can't actually beat anybody with a pulse. If he fought any Top 50 Heavyweight he'd lose.SenorPipino wrote: ↑07 Feb 2018, 12:17 Why doesn't Briggs shut his pie hole up and actually start fighting instead of just seeking attention by talking about all the fights he wants?

Lots of people would fight Briggs. They're just not the World Champions because the guys with the belts have bigger fish to fry. I'm sure a guy like Derrick Chisora would fight Briggs in a heartbeat. He'd whip his ass too.asdfjkl wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 18:33Well, if nobody dares to fight you, you're simply stuck, it's easy as that.jamamb wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 18:27 you can tell briggs really actually has no confidence. if he did hed fight someone decent to gain some credibility. hes just using his mouth like a guy who knows his body wont earn him big fights anymore

Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Briggs is nobody to challenge. Briggs is a shot old man. Beating him would mean nothing because everybody that's paying attention already knows how shot he is.
Fighters don't make their fights. Matchmakers do it for 'em. If Briggs was somebody important don't you think some promoter somewhere would be trying to get him a meaningful fight?
He's not, and they know he's not. If anything he's the guy that if you got him a big fight he might die or be seriously injured on your card because he's so damn shot he shouldn't be fighting anymore.
Do you realize how old Briggs is? Do you realize he was getting his ass kicked by Jameel McCline...a guy that never became a World Champion 15 years ago? McCline has already retired from the sport...and he was younger than Briggs.
Briggs has no chance against anybody that has a name you'd recognize at Heavyweight. Holyfield could come out of retirement and smack him around.

Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Back then, he had a chance, and Chisora of all people back then was actually completely out of shape, in fact Eddy Hearn has tried to get him a fight, but as expected, nobody dared to show up, Briggs fought for free on Daffy Duck (who promised him a fight) his undercard, Briggs showed a reasonable performance, but also that coward pulled out and fought a cruiserweight instead, and still lost...gilgamesh wrote: ↑07 Feb 2018, 12:47Briggs is nobody to challenge. You're f*cking delusional about Briggs.
You're f*cking delusional about Briggs.
Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Briggs is so old and brittle he doesn't even need a PED test. Put it on PPV and I'll pay $25 to see the KO.
Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
Seriously they shouldn't waste Wilder or AJ or even Parker's time with this. Briggs should fight somebody like a Chisora or a Travis Kauffman. He'd have no shot against guys like that even.
I'd be disgusted if Briggs were given a title shot.
Frankly if his fight with Oquendo had come off as expected I would've picked Oquendo to have outboxed him. That's how shot he is.
Speaking of Oquendo...apparently his fight with Charr ain't happening now either? How long is this guy gonna be owed a "mandatory" WBA title shot that just will not f*cking happen. For f*cks sake just throw him in there with some guy from a local bar somewhere and get it over with.

Re: Shannon Briggs offered Deontay Wilder $2 million
So I'm reading that Tyson Fury has sent Briggs a contract and intends to fight him in 2018.
But Fury makes it clear that he won't fight Briggs in his first comeback bout, which the Brit claims will happen "probably in April."
Maybe he feels that the inactive Briggs is too tough after being off more than 2 1/2 years.
Fury will probably be looking for a Phil De Greco type opponent for his initial comeback bout.
And Fury, for some reason, also says that he's targeting has-been Antonio Tarver this year.
Tarver hasn't fought since drawing with Cunningham in 2015.
You can't help but notice that Fury had his eyes set on some real old timers.
Briggs is 47. Tarver turns 50 this year.
Is George Foreman still available?

Why did he give the exact same response "I'll fight him, but not in my first fight back" that he gave to Tarver? Something tells me people are getting his tweets and what he's actually saying confused.SenorPipino wrote: ↑07 Feb 2018, 13:37 So I'm reading that Tyson Fury has sent Briggs a contract and intends to fight him in 2018.

Phil Lo Greco is a more dangerous opponent for Khan than Briggs would be for Fury. Briggs is no threat to any meaningful Heavyweight, even a fat one that hasn't fought in 2 and a half years.
