Roy Jones vs Scott Sigmon TONIGHT 2/8: Roy's Final Fight!
Roy Jones vs Scott Sigmon TONIGHT 2/8: Roy's Final Fight!
This is Roy Jones 75th and final fight. Dan Rafael's written a story up about it on Twitter, and it's gonna be shown on UFC Fight Pass.
Sigmon is actually a live underdog I think. Should be interesting.

The few books that have bothered to post a line on tonight's alleged Farewell Fight have Jones a hefty 14-1 favorite.
Sigmon will be making his cruiserweight debut, never having fought above 178. Just last year he weighed 159 for a bout.
He has a decent record but fails when he steps up in class. Even an ancient Roy Jones is a step up for Sigmon.
He's been stopped 5 times. The chin is a question mark.
I don't see Sigmon as a live underdog. He was brought in to Pensacola strictly to lose and make Jones look great in his final fight before the hometown crowd.
The fans will go home happy. A legend like Jones will not be denied--- by hook or by crook.
Roy Jones by 8th round KO.

Realistically, Jones should have called it a career when Tarver beat him in their 3rd fight by a lopsided decision.
That was in 2005. Jones should have realized then that whatever he had once was gone.
But boxers are often unrealistic and ignore the truth that's obvious to everyone else.
I'll forgive him for turning a blind eye to the one side defeat to Calzaghe. Joe was a big guy and a P4P talent.
Even prime Jones would have had a tough night against Calzaghe.
But Jones should have finally gotten the message when Danny Green humiliated him in one round back in 2009.
The Aussie was a decent enough boxer but just not the calibre of fighter who would have touched a Jones who had anything meaningful left in the tank.
That one sided blowout loss was when Jones should have bid farewell to boxing.

Does anyone know how to watch this outside of the US? I don’t know what that fight pass thing is but presumably it doesn’t work in Europe...

In supposedly the final fight of his HOF career, Roy Jones scores a one-sided decision over Scott Sigmon.
All 3 judges had it 98-92.
Sigmon did little, choosing to wrestle Jones and clinch instead of fighting effectively.
Jones simply boxed and potshotted Sigmon en route to the 66th win of his career.

Well a predictable outcome. I was curious to watch if I could but I guess I can catch up on YouTube at some stage. Jones picked up the WBU cruiserweight belt as well if I’m not mistaken...

Anyone who managed to watch that fight card without his finger on the fast forward button is a better man than me.

Sounds like it was a sports entertainment exhibition more than a real fight.

Re: Roy Jones vs Scott Sigmon TONIGHT 2/8: Roy's Final Fight!
I watched it.
The unaminous decision verdict was BULLSHIT. Cujo smothered him for 90% of the fight, and Roy even got rocked a few times. Pretty sad that Roy couldn't put away a man who was making his debut at cruiserweight and was nothing more than a blown up Middleweight journeyman.
It should have been a split decision or a draw, imho, but hey that's "show biz" as they say. The only interesting thing about the fight was the two ring card girls were probably the hottest ones I've ever seen do a boxing match in my life.
Anyways, was it just me, or did it seem that the gloves were bigger than 10oz? Those things looked like 12oz sparring gloves.

Roy won and came out in one piece that's all that counts for me.
Roy's career went on way too long but as he once said he's addicted to boxing ... hard to argue with that.
