Terence Crawford @ 154.
Terence Crawford @ 154.
Do you think Crawford could win a title at JMW, or is WW his limit? Maybe he could win the WBO title off Sadam Ali, assuming he still has the title by then.
Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
He hasn't even fought at 147 yet. Considering how many names there are for him to fight at 147, and the fact that it's much more of a "glamour" division than 154 I really don't see any reason why he'd be going up to 154 anytime soon.
He may do it at some point just to say he did it, but for now all the money fights are at 147.

Let's let him get accustomed to 147. Then we can speculate beyond that

Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
I guess if a lot of guys are hot for cruiserweights to jump up to heavyweights, it's not surprising that they're also fantasizing about super lightweights rapidly becoming junior middleweights.
No one's ever simply satisfied with the way things are.

Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
In this case it doesn't even make sense. There's literally not one fight at 154 for Crawford that would be more interesting than at least 5 potential fights he could have as a Welterweight.SenorPipino wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 18:01 I guess if a lot of guys are hot for cruiserweights to jump up to heavyweights, it's not surprising that they're also fantasizing about super lightweights rapidly becoming junior middleweights.

I'd rather see Crawford vs Spence, Crawford vs Thurman, Crawford vs Porter, Crawford vs Danny G...all of those are more interesting than anybody he could fight at 154 really.

Could win a vacant title or beat a soft champion like Liam Smith, but not best JMWs.

Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
Maybe, and I only say maybe, he could beat Ali.
A definite edge for Crawford in talent, but Ali isn't a bum and with his size advantage he would probably give Crawford all he could handle. ..and more.
But as gilgamesh says, why would he bother chasing much bigger fighters who simply can't bring to the table the glamour and sky high purses that the more marketable welterweights can?

Perfect answer I agree 100%gilgamesh wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 17:13 He hasn't even fought at 147 yet. Considering how many names there are for him to fight at 147, and the fact that it's much more of a "glamour" division than 154 I really don't see any reason why he'd be going up to 154 anytime soon.

Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
Could he? Yes. Pac won a belt there, even though everything about it was pathetic. Bud is better than probably 6 or 8 former 154 belt holders.
Like others have said, let's see how 147 goes.

Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
Apart from Charlo (and Lara who's time at the top is limited), I'm not that impressed with 154. At the moment, you've got Hurd as the 3rd best fighter in the division, but how good is he really? He's really just a weight bully, who walks opponents down, defends with his face, and goes for the kill after they get tired. His footwork is poor (chaser not a cutter), his hands aren't particularly quick, he's not that accurate, and his defence is nonexistent.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 19:15 Could win a vacant title or beat a soft champion like Liam Smith, but not best JMWs.
If Lara wants to (meaning if he throws more than 5 punches a round) he shuts Hurd out. If Crawford played smart, and didn't get dragged into a scrap, he'd school Hurd too, despite the size difference.
It shouldn't happen though. Crawford has at least 5 top level fights at 147, before he even thinks about 154.
Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
I think everyone is getting ahead of themselves.
I have doubts he can even beat Horn.
Horn is one tough muvver
And hits like a mule.
I don't think Terrence Crawford has really been rocked in his entire career.
So now he moves up to Welterweight and if Horn can land solidly just one shot Terrence Crawford maybe in a world of pain.
By Christmas Terrence Crawford could win back his Light Welterweight title as he ditches any ideas of staying in Welterweight.

Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
Crawford's achievement (undisputed LWW champion) is a great one, although every boxing fan knows that LWW was pretty weak weight division recently.
If he is able to become undisputed WW champion, I would consider him the best boxer since 2000. It would be a very difficult task, but it might be possible.
Frankly, I think Crawford would make a terrible mistake if he decide to move up at LMW. It is not his optimal division, evidently, Charlo and Hurd would hurt him, badly.

Charlo would kill him. Hurd would barely land, unless Crawford got careless. Crawford is barely any smaller than Lara, and much fresher. My money says Lara/Hurd plays out the same as Saunders/Lemieux, but with less action (unless Lara gets old overnight).ValMar wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 07:37 Crawford's achievement (undisputed LWW champion) is a great one, although every boxing fan knows that LWW was pretty weak weight division recently.

Hurd/Crawford would look like the early rounds of Hurd/Trout. Except Crawford is far more skilled, and has a far better engine than Trout does at this stage of his career.
Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
I don't know a lot about Hurd, but he seems to be very huge for LMW, he looks like an average LHW. Perhaps, I am wrong ?Deleted_Scenes wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 13:03Charlo would kill him. That's all Hurd has going for him. Trout was outboxing and so was his opponent before Trout.ValMar wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 14:21I don't know a lot about Hurd, but he seems to be very huge for LMW, he looks like an average LHW. Anyway, I think he would be too much (too big) for Crawford (not so long ago he faced Gamboa)..............siablo14 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 15:04That's all Hurd has going for him. Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
Hurd's a very big Jr. Middleweight. By the time Crawford were to move up to 154 Hurd would already be fighting at Middleweight by then I'm sure. I look for Hurd to move up to Middleweight by the end of 2019 or early 2020 out of necessity. He's very big for the weight.
Re: Terence Crawford @ 154.
I believe so too. How do you see the Hurd-Lara fight playing out?gilgamesh wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 15:44Hurd's a very big Jr. Middleweight. Hurd, points, in a stinker. Hurd plods round the ring after the ever-receding figure of Lara who lands the odd clean shot, takes a few cuffing blows, and screams robbery having thrown 12 punches per roundsiablo14 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 15:51I believe so too. Trout was able to outbox Hurd for long stretches early in the bout before Hurd's size and power finally caught up to him. I don't believe Hurd's ever gonna catch up to Lara enough to turn the tide.siablo14 wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 15:51I believe so too. I expect Lara to win a UD over Hurd. I like Hurd though so I'll be rooting for the kid.
