Eubank Jr brags about how is gonna squash Groves but will Jr be in for a rude awakening ?

Post by apollo creed »

"I will find a way to stop George Groves. There’s just no chance in hell that he’s gonna take this away from me. I’m a man of my word, and George, you will not see the 12th round.”

"I expect to be fully dominant and take him out between six and eight rounds," Eubank Jr

"There is no way it can go the distance,” Eubank says, “I’m going to stop him."

So is Groves a poor opponent as Quinlan, old washed up Abraham or Yildirim ?

I would love to see Groves win and shut the Eubanks up but I think that a Eubank Jr KO would be better for boxing. If the kid is half as good as the Eubanks say he is, then he's super marketable globally if they market him correctly. Especially in the USA.

Again id love to see Groves knock out Jr, but I dont feel it will happen. I really truly believe that we havent seen the best from Jr yet and I think there is more to come from him. While Groves has the better CV I feel this fight is the graduation for Eubank.

I think it will be a war and would not be surprised both boxers on the deck at some point but I feel Jr will stop Groves later on in the fight, possibly somewhere after round 7.

Groves is a more proven puncher imo.

Indeed a hard fight for both.

No, Eubank will win. Simply the better talent.

His work rate will wear Groves down.

I don't expect a KO. Eubank will be a little more cautious of Grove's power than he lets on.

But Eubank will dominate a weary Groves down the stretch to win a convincing decision.

Groves peters out late. Eubank keeps coming.

Ask Saunders.

You can't reliably predict fights that are matched this closely. But I think Eubank is the favorite.

I say Groves, although I could see Chris doing it too. Groves could make it his type of fight with his jab, but if Chris gets past the jab and becomes rough he could win it.

Eubank is a really good fighter but, as has been said many times already, he‘s unproven at this level. That’s why I would lean towards George.

Froch says it's not a hard choice to predict.

He gives little respect to Groves chances. Froch KOd Groves on 2 occasions.

He has also sparred numerous rounds with Eubank, many in preparation for his 2014 win over Groves.

"You can't hurt him," Froch says of Eubank. "It was far harder sparring him than it was fighting Groves with those small gloves...sparring with Eubanks was competitive, uncomfortable."

Unless Froch is simply blowing smoke, it sounds like a difficult night in Manchester for underdog Groves.

Lol. Froch says that as though Groves didn't put him on his ass hard, take his legs and balance away for several rounds, and rock him several more times besides

I bet Eubank didn't put Froch on his backside.

froch is a guy who holds grudges and cant let things go. he takes digs at groves whenever he gets the chance. i like eubank here but froch said something like its 'impossible' for groves to win and thats just bs. froch top career but seems a bit c@nty tbh,

Aye Froch is still a bit bitter when it comes to Groves. But if it wasn't for Groves raising the needle in the first fight and putting him on his butt he would never have got the huge fight at Wembley that he is so proud of

But don't fighters often back fighters that they've already fought and beaten?

It makes their own accomplishments seem bigger.

For the record, Froch says he doesn't care who wins. Wants the best man to win.

He admires Groves and has no animosity toward him.

hes been making digs at groves for years. clearly still doesnt like him. brings up the fact the he beat groves as much as he can too. t

hink of all the problems groves gave froch, a super tough elite smw. think of how much higher level groves has fought at then eubank.

i mean i back eubank, but to say its impossible for groves like froch did is clearly nonsense. froch is a person who holds grudges. its very clear and not just with groves.

btw all the time i see fighters pick against or underrate people who beat them or gave them problems. a similar thing is fighters saying some random guy they beat easily gave them there toughest fight rather than someone who beat them up pillar to post.

Whatever happens it's going to be hell for Eubank Jr for at a least a couple of rounds. Even if he's slowed a touch since the wars with Froch, Groves still has frightening hand speed and power.

Eubank Jr knows fully well that he needs to weather a few difficult rounds and has already stated he intends to stop Groves late on. I think he's right.

No surprises here, everyone in boxing knows what Groves can do. Although it can be a fine line between self belief and delusion, Eubank Jr is still on the right side.

Pretty easy night for Groves I think, he'll be about 20lbs heavier than Jnr on the night and if jnr tries to get into a shootout with Groves like his last fight he's in big trouble.

is it possible to put that much weight on 24 hours before a fight?

It seems that boxing people, those actually involved in the sport, almost unanimously favour Groves to emerge victorious, despite Eubank Jr. considered the betting favourite.

I don’t think that is something that us fans should ignore. George Groves is a very live dog in this fight, despite me favouring Eubank Jr. to emerge victorious.

There are a lot of unknowns about Chris Eubank Jr., which means that anything can happen in this fight.

I believe the power in Groves right hand is the only thing that can save him from being stopped. Maybe I'm wrong, but this does seem like a changing of the guard moment. If Jr has a chin like his dad, Groves is in for it.

I guess I'm in the Froch camp.

I think it's almost impossible for Groves to win. His power may keep the bout competitive by making Eubank careful, but the better fighter here is Eubank.

Expect Groves to struggle to hear the final bell.

I think the slim 2-1 odds favoring Eubanks are terribly generous to Groves. He very well has lost a step, maybe 2, since the Froch bouts.

The Jack fight further exposed his deficiencies against world class fighters.

While he has undeniable power, I don't consider Groves a monster puncher against top shelf competition.

Sometimes he looks the part of a better boxer than puncher.

I would not he surprised if Eubanks appeared to be the heavier handed fighter in this bout.

Groves is a proven elite level boxer and no pushover for anyone of similar size and weight. Having said that Eubank has made a believer of me, and I'm confident he will overcome the old campaigner after a gruelling struggle. It's his time now.

It is possible but I think jnr could come in under the weight limit

Groves is a natural bigger man , a true 168 pounder with power and speed. Jr will have a tough night.
