9th round of Jezzamundo's dream heavyweight tournament

Post by jezzamundo »

Results from the 8th round are:

Ali UD12 Tyson
Louis UD12 Lewis
Holmes UD12 Frazier
Foreman draw Marciano

So the points table reads:

1. Ali 725 points (8-0-0, 2 ko)
2. Louis 715 points (7-1-0, 6 ko)
3. Holmes 565 points (5-2-0, 3 ko)
4. Foreman 450 points (4-3-1, 4 ko)
5. Lewis 270 points (3-5-0, 1 ko)
6. Marciano 235 points (1-6-1, 1 ko)
7. Frazier 130 points (1-7-0, 0 ko)
8. Tyson 110 points (1-7-0, 1 ko)

The next round of fights are:

Ali vs Lewis II (Ali won first fight UD12)
Louis vs Frazier II (Louis won first fight TKO11)
Holmes vs Marciano II (Holmes won first fight UD12)
Foreman vs Tyson II (Foreman won first fight KO5)

Remember, this is a premier league style event and not a knockout competition. Once all fighters have fought each other twice the tournament is over and the fighter with the most points is the ultimate champion! Fights are 12 rounds, not 15, and fighters use 10 ounce gloves (not that I think that would make a real difference to any of the fights). For those who didn't read the first topic, these are 7 of my top 8 all-time heavies, I rate Tyson 12th from memory, but I found him just too interesting a fighter to leave out. The points system is as such:
KO win = 100 points
TKO win = 100 points
UD win = 90 points
MD win = 75 points
SD win = 60 points
Draw = 50 points
SD loss = 40 points
MD loss = 25 points
UD loss = 10 points
TKO loss = 0 points
KO loss = 0 points

Ali V Lewis II, a overconfident and undertrained Ali comes in against a determind and very well conditioned Lewis.
Ali losses the first half of the fight and is only saved by a rally in the late rounds,
Result Ali wins a questionable SD.

Loius v Farzier II, Frazier works hard and puts up a good account of himself, but the Brown Bomber just has to much for him, Ref stops it in the 13th, Louis by TKO.

Holmes v Marciano II, Rocky Drops him twice in the early rounds, on way to a 11 round Stoppage.

Foreman v Tyson II, tyson wins early rounds with fast and powerful punches, but begins to take to many big ones from george, foreman tko7 tyson

Ali vs Lewis II (Ali won first fight UD12)
Louis vs Frazier II (Louis won first fight TKO11)
Holmes vs Marciano II (Holmes won first fight UD12)
Foreman vs Tyson II (Foreman won first fight KO5)

Ali vs Lewis

Ali starts quick and dazzles Lewis with increible speed, agility and lightning-fast hands. Lewis is overwhelmed, but attempts to keep Ali at bay with a long stiff jab...Bu this will only take him so far.. Ali Ko 7.

Louis vs Frazier

Frazier pressured Louis, and Louis hates being swarmed around. Frazier gives his namesake under terrible pressure and floors him once in 2 consecutive rounds. But "The Brown Bomber" keeps heart and teaches Frazier a lesson in boxing masterclass... Louis pts UD.

Holmes vs Marciano

Rocky's anger and determination at losing the first fight, drives him like his never been driven berfore. Holmes relaxes after a convincing points victory first time round. Due to Holmes slackness... Marciano KO 3.

Foreman vs Tyson

"Iron Mike" takes the fight to Foreman, but Big George's punching power quashes the fire in Tysons belly. Foreman begins to tire after round 6, Tysons making a comeback. But Tyson has never got up from the floor and won a fight... And I can't see why he'll do it here... Foreman KO 9.

Ali vs Lewis II (Ali won first fight UD12)

Ali learns the secret and uses what he learns to coast to an easier UD12

Louis vs Frazier II (Louis won first fight TKO11)
Frazier makes it to the end of of a competitive but clear UD12 in favor of Louis
Holmes vs Marciano II (Holmes won first fight UD12)

Holmes jabs and avoids incoming on his way to a UD12

Foreman vs Tyson II (Foreman won first fight KO5)

Tyson KO's Angelo Dundee, and decks the Ref and Bites much of Georges nose off to steer clear of a certain KO, Foreman wins in a DQ Rd 6

Ali vs Lewis II (Ali won first fight UD12)
Louis vs Frazier II (Louis won first fight TKO11)
Holmes vs Marciano II (Holmes won first fight UD12)
Foreman vs Tyson II (Foreman won first fight KO5)

Ali SD12 Lewis - Ali gets a bit lazy and Lewis comes in better prepared, Ali lands more but Lewis lands harder.
Louis UD12 Frazier - Louis knocked down early, but gets up and takes over in the later rounds.
Marciano TKO12 Holmes - Holmes well ahead on points takes a huge overhand right early in the 12th and never recovers.
Foreman KO4 Tyson - Tyson lands some decent blows, but is disheartened by Foreman's power, choosing to stay down after taking several huge uppercuts.

Ali vs Lewis II Ali TKO7 - prime Ali is too fast for Lewis whenever they meet

Louis vs Frazier II Louis UD 12 - see Ali-Lewis

Holmes vs Marciano II Holmes UD 12. Marciano never fought an opponent with Holmes' jab, I can't see him getting by that weapon.

Foreman vs Tyson II Foreman KO 8. Tyson can't knock Foreman out early on, and Foreman displays better stamina going into the second half of the fight. Besides, Tyson was not a fighter who adjusted his game in the refight.

Ali WUD 12 Lewis (Lewis tries harder and wins a couple more points but can't get the decision)

Louis DMD 12 Frazier (Frazier drops him in the middle rounds and gets a draw on 2 cards, the other goes to Joe. After a slow start frazier has the best of it but later on Louis has Frazier reeling. Frazier survives but on the bell looks the worse of the 2)

Holmes WSD 12 Marciano (after shutting Rocky out in the first fight Holmes doesn't worry too much about the second, a big mistake. He gets dropped but survives. He fights evenly over the final rounds. Larry deserves the win but many think Rock's knockdown warrants him getting the decision).

Tyson KO 3 Foreman (2 huge bangers, anyone could win. I favour George but as he won the first I'll give this one to Tyson)

3 more days. Funny how people have started justifying their tips whereas hardly anyone was early on. I really don't mind either way, but it makes interesting reading.
