Promoter Mick Hennessy, returns to the network, to ensure that one of the most revered titles in British sport can once again be viewed by the nation for free.

Sexton v Fury is the latest addition to an exciting line-up of free-to-air sports events in Channel 5’s extensive portfolio that currently includes Live Aviva Premiership Rugby matches (as well as a weekly highlights show), Live FIA Formula E, MotoGP and World Rally Championship highlights, weekly football highlights from across the EFL and the Carabao Cup, as well as international cricket highlights from all of the England Men’s and Women’s team’s home fixtures.

I'm not really sure what to make of this fight. Sexton hasnt been fighting very much quality in his last few fights including fighting a poor novice who had a record of 1-3 when they fought. Kamil Sokolowski record has increased to 4 - 12 since.

Its hard to gauge how good Sexton is reallt because any time he has tried to step up in domestic class he has been beat. His best win if you like was possibly Gary Cornish last time out, but Cornish being stopped by AJ in one round back in 2015 isnt really an indication on how good Sexton is having to take Cornish 12 rounds and win on points. The win wasnt emphatic either only a point or 2 in the cards.

Hughie Fury on the otherhand hasnt had the big wins one was hoping and watching his WBO title fight last time out hasnt given me any indication he has the power to stop Sexton

Its not a great British Heavyweight title fight to get excited about looking through previous champions and the history of the title. In all honesty I wouldnt like to pick a winner as I see this fight going the full 12 rounds in what will be a poor title fight. I doubt very much contact action and can see this being a laboured win for either man.

Sexton has been a bit of a strange one over the years.

His best win was Rogan, in a couple of pretty big fights at the time. Rogan had beaten Skelton beforehand and was riding high with a good ranking. Sexton performed well, in the Lions den too. He never kicked on from that though

He gave Chisora plenty of trouble in their fights, which were both close and then he just bent over for Price in a really weird showing. He was applauding Price’s work that night during the fight! Hindsight is wonderful but looking back now he should have actually gone after Price instead of showing him so much respect.

He’s probably past his best thesedays and I can see Hughie taking it with a bit to spare. It’s a good comeback fight for him and it’s nice to see a fighter going back to British level after a pretty close failure at world level.

Maybe Hughie should have talent this route a couple of years ago?

I think this is Fury's chance to dominate the domestic scene. His world title shot was too early. Became a contender too quick.

He can win this and roll with the British title. Give it some credibility back that it deserves, capture the Commonwealth too.. Defend them a good few times.. Then move on to Euro.

No one has done that since Saunders. Seeing that Hughie is only 23.. Why not?

If walking forward wins fights, Parker won. If you're actually scoring a boxing match under the correct criteria, Fury won. You're right, though, a lot thought Parker won, but most people know sh!t about boxing....

I gave it to Parker but it could've went either way. Parker forced things and that's why I scored the fight to him. Fury didn't throw nearly enough. Was a fight to forget that's for sure and not one I'll be rewatching!

What I don't get is.. It was a majority dec.. the even scorecard was 114-114 which is standard for draws unless points are deducted. But the other two cards were a wide 118-110.. If some rounds were closer, should they have been closer..

Also, I don't beleive anyone will re-watch the fight to score it again a second time.. Don't think anyone would rewatch it to be honest.

I don't even see this as a backward step for Fury. He did well against Parker, but it was a step too quick.. He's back where he should have been a year ago and that is cleaning out the domestic leve. He's had 20 fights, won a WBO regional belt.. But done nothing at domestic scene. Even Tyson had some success at domestic level.

Just hope the Fury's can use this to get Hughie active again. He could have beat Parker had he been a little sharper IMO. .

I gave it to Parker but it could've went either way. Parker forced things and that's why I scored the fight to him. Fury didn't throw nearly enough. Was a fight to forget that's for sure and not one I'll be rewatching!

It was a horrible, boring fight with no real action to speak of. Punch stats aren't an exact science but it's telling that we have the same people obsessing over Tyson's win against Wlad waxing lyrical about Hughie winning this by miles. Hughie failed to land more than Parker in any single round.

I think Hughie could have been in the mix for bigger fights after his performance (at least on paper, I didn't see the fight) vs Parker. There seemed to be quite a few pundits who thought Fury won - I think he should be in the mix for European Level / Fringe world title guys.

Fair play to Hennessy, seems to have used up a fair few of the 9 lives. I thought the fact that Pink Tyson is now working elsewhere that this would be the end of Hennessy.

Yeah, good call although feels like a huge step back as he ran Parker close. He should be fighting the likes of the Whyte / Browne winner, Christian Hammer etc.

I personally would have gone after someone like Hammer aswell and got back into the rankings.
But this may be the smarter strategy longterm. Hughie on CH5 will build his profile and look decent doing so against sub-par opposition.
Hopefully he can get out regularly and get a run going...
