Best Josh

Post by Taansend »

We have an abundance of talented Josh's in the UK at the moment.

Which Josh will go on to have the best career?

I haven't included Anthony Joshua as he's already won a title.

But if you want to vote for him shove it in the Other Josh.

Someone asked me just before Christmas which British fighter is most likely to win a world title in 2018. Without hesitation I answered Josh Taylor and I gotta go with him on this thread also

I think Taylor, Kelly & Buatsi could all go on to win world titles.

They all look the part so far mate so hopefully. Need to see a bit more of the other two but they look promising. JT will be knocking on the door for a strap by the end of the year I think.

Yep. Crawford moving up means they'll be loads of belts up for grabs.

WBC - Prograis v Indongo on March 9th PLUS Inam v Ramirez for the same belt a week later :maybe:

WBA - Barthelemy v Reilkh on March 10th

IBF - Lipenets v Garcia on March 10th

WBO - Flanagan v Hooker April 14th.

If/When Taylor gets past Soto I reckon he's ready to go for the winner of the WBC, WBA or WBO belts

Taylor is the absolute bollocks, kid could mop up at 140 in 18 months for me, he cruises it against any UK based light-welter tomorrow.

Mind I though Alex Arthur was a future (proper) multiple world champion as well so what do I know!

He never recovered from the pasting he took from Michael Gomez. Someone really should make a biopic about him. Born on the back seat of a cab and I don't think there were too many 'normal' days thereafter. Many fighters possessed greater skills than Gomez but I don't reckon there's ever been one that had more fighting heart.

There was meant to be a film but feck knows what happened to it. There was a trailer for it kicking about but it was never released. I still can't watch the Arthur Gomez fight without my stomach going

Warrington shouldn't even be in the poll, I don't think even his mum would pick him. Taylor for me but Kelly is 12-18 months behind in development and could be the one but Taylor looks an exceptional talent

No doubt he was a beast, if the Japanese hadn't invaded Singapore the following year who knows what he could have accomplished.

josh warrington has won english, commonwealth, brit, and euro titles easily enough. hes clearly very proven at euro level at minimum. hes not flashy but has excellent stamina and puts his shots together well. hes not a puncher but is physically strong. he can outlast many guys who are flashier.

i dont see why hes undeserving of being mentioned alongside guys like buatsi and kelly. get back to me when they do something relevant in the pro game. throwing 5 hooks in a row vs a low level punching bag means little. vs that level a guy like olympic medalist david price looked far more destructive then pretty much any other hw. lets see if they step up the levels as easily. they might do it no doubt, but i dont get why we should scoff at warrington being mentioned next to them.

even taylors best wins were over a prospect and a career lightweight whod seen better days, and i thought the last one was even until after the halfway point. though i do rate him higher then warrington on ability.

btw to me warrington is one of the most underrated in the game by hardcore fans. i mean i dont think hes anything special but theres just so much stuff along the lines of 'hes shit!' 'cant fight at all!' 'fraud!' and so on. now being scoffed at simply mentioning him alongside kelly, buatsi, and taylor :maybe:

hes got strengths in areas that arent flashy or destructive, to me thats part of it. a bit of one for the more effective then he looks maybe.

I agree, although the other three are more naturally talentd Warrington is the most accomplished on that list currently.

Personally i wouldn't be all that suprised if Warrington outworks Selby in similar fashion to what Truax did agaimst Degale.
