Licensed gyms/trainers

Post by KW1 »

Just wanted to see if anyone has a list of contacts or can recommend pro licensed trainers in South east Sussex Surrey Kent etc, as Bbbofc are unable to provide it to non licence holders apparently.
Any help gratefully received

Years ago there used to be an annual book (Rothmans annual or something) that listed every active boxer, trainer, manager and promoter - maybe there is something similar online?

Did the Board say why they won’t give the contact details?

All this info was available in the BBBoC year book, had all boxers records, managers, trainers and promoters phone numbers and addresses.

Is the year book still going or has it ceased?

For what reason? Bunch of bureaucratic buffoons. What would be the potential drawback of giving out the information?!

Yeah that seems bizarre to me.

Yes all licensed Managers, Promoters, Trainers and Matchmakers names, addresses and phone numbers used to be in the back of Barry Hugmans British Boxing board Of Control Yearbook.

Sadly this ceased publication in 2010 because boxers records could be found on the internet.

Used to phone a few managers up sometimes for a chat about the boxing. I was only a fan, not involved in the game, but they were always very accommodating.

Don't know how you get contact details now though. Seems a bit shortsighted of the Board to give info out only to licence holders.

Suspect it would be a breach of data protection law to give out the information, so that would be the drawback. See https://ico.org.uk/ for more info.

You might be able to make some progress this way.

Go onto Google and search under the following terms: boxrec active residence surrey (for example).

The results should give you some active boxers based in Surrey. You could then:

- Google their fight reports to see if trainers / gyms / training location is mentioned.

- Go to http://bbbofc.com/content/boxers which will tell you who their manager is, which again might help the googling to find out more.

Hope that is of some use.
