How many murderous bangers did Eubank Sr really face though to know how good his chin really was, sure he took some licks from Benn and Thompson, but how would he have done against someone like McClellan, Jackson or even Hearns who was still a good fighter in the early 90's?

i'd say what he absorbed from Benn in the first fight alone proves his chin was very solid

Plus CEJ has not had his chin tested yet, Groves punches harder than BJS so answers could be coming.

I don’t know about it being because of his dad. But froch has said he’s hit Jr with some big shots in sparring and his chin is solid.

Why not? They're not genetically identical. They most likely inherited differing degrees of punch resistance. Unless Vitaly has found some magic exercise that makes your chin stronger and then hid it from Wladimir.
Funnily, there are exercises you can do to make your punch resistance better. I read an article once that said strengthening your neck muscles can help absorb the impact of a shot, although obviously not entirely. Used Holyfield as an examples. I can see the logic there to some degree

If Mayweather’s kids ever ask a similar question, Floyd can actually answer it :TU:
Not a fair test. Mayweather's punching power has decreased a lot :OhYes:

That was in sparring though with 16oz gloves on and Jnr was wearing a headguard so it's not a proper barometer. Froch also said that Groves punches very very hard (as we saw in their first fight).

Who said this

Own up.
Worked out good for Marvis Frazier....oh wait

Didn't Joe Frazier go down six or seven times against Foreman :maybe:

Yeah, but that's Foreman. Nobody else ever knocked Joe Frazier out, and Foreman could drop a horse. He was stopped in the 3rd Ali fight, but that was more about the fact that his eyes were so swollen that his cornermen knew he couldn't see and knew it was time to pull the plug. Ali never dropped him in any of their fights as I recall.

I don't believe he was ever knocked down other than Foreman except for the 1st Oscar Bonavena fight.

Marvis got stopped in 1 by both Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson.

You actually can put muscles on your chin ( sort of). Neck strengthening has been shown to reduce concussion risk. But a lot of it is punch anticipation, and having good instincts when you do get caught so you Don't take more.

There's too many counter examples to having the same chin as your dad.

I'm not defending the "Fathers Chin" theory.

But examples the other way always have holes in them too.

Another thing is supposedly Jack Dempsey always chewed bubble gum like EVERY day for lots of hours to strengthen his jaw muscles.

Not sure how effective that's supposed to be, but Dempsey took a shot alright.
