After flirting with YouTube PPV, Mick Hennessy is delighted to be back on free-to-air TV
Promoter Mick Hennessy, returns to the network (following a pay-per-view YouTube fight between Fury and Joseph Parker last time out), to ensure that one of the most revered titles in British sport can once again be viewed by the nation for free.
Hennessy said, “I’m delighted to bring the historic British Heavyweight Championship back to mainstream, free-to-air, television on Channel 5 where it will be seen by the biggest viewing audience possible due to their considerable reach and exposure.
"I can’t believe that it will be nearly seven years since the British Heavyweight title was last seen on free-to-air in the UK on Channel 5, which we also promoted.
"We’re back with a bang along with our partners Infinitum and thrilled to deliver a great fight for the fans between two proud and fierce warriors in Sam and Hughie and one that will make the whole country sit up and take notice.
"I’d like to thank Channel 5, Infinitum, Peter Fury and Graham Everett who were involved to make this happen and I can’t wait for May 12th.”
Hughie himself is an alumni of Channel 5, where he commenced his professional career and learnt his trade from World Heavyweight Amateur Champion to World heavyweight title contender.
Now Hennessy returns with a mouthwatering domestic heavyweight clash that will headline an action-packed show which is set to whet the appetite of boxing fans and Channel 5 viewers as they battle it out for the Lord Lonsdale belt.

I'm surprised that he's still in business. The Parker-Fury debacle must have cost him at least a million. Fair play to the fella though, he's still in the game.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 11:58 Promoter Mick Hennessy, returns to the network (following a pay-per-view YouTube fight between Fury and Joseph Parker last time out), to ensure that one of the most revered titles in British sport can once again be viewed by the nation for free.

Mate you need to stop copying and pasting stuff, it is theft of intellectual property.
The sites you lift stuff from and writers who put the pieces together get paid through clicks and readerships on their sites. You posting this stuff without even given attribution is harmful to livelihoods. These people spend time to research and prepare these pieces and are totally driven by clicks to the stories to then get clicks to advertising.
Just put a link to the story with a brief summary then people can still read it and discuss having clicked to read the article and no one is hurt. I am amazed mods have not stamped on this.

Good luck to him, the more promoters in business the better it is for the fighters and the fans.
Re: After flirting with YouTube PPV, Mick Hennessy is delighted to be back on free-to-air TV
I'll second that. I have a lot of time for Mick. He sticks by his fighters and looks after their best interests in terms of matchmaking far more than a good few other promoters I could mention.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 12:42 Good luck to him, the more promoters in business the better it is for the fighters and the fans.![]()

Big Mick back on terrestrial TV????
I’ve seen him loads on ITV. Usually Bradley Walsh asks him loads of questions. Think it’s ITV at 5.

Yes without promotors then boxing is finished there will always be big promotors backed by tv etc but it’s so tough for small hall promotors with no backing whatsoeverNightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 12:42 Good luck to him, the more promoters in business the better it is for the fighters and the fans.![]()

Fair play and good luck to Mick - the only downside is that more people will actually see how boring Hughie is.

I work in the industry mate and my ability to call someone out on unprofessional practises which are harmful to a colleague does not make me not "great going for a pint."DSW wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 12:51Christ, I bet it's great going for a pint with you.tobyh5 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 12:28 Mate you need to stop copying and pasting stuff, it is theft of intellectual property.

It is theft fella, how would you like it if someone came and did something to decrease how much money you earn?
Re: After flirting with YouTube PPV, Mick Hennessy is delighted to be back on free-to-air TV
After the bit on the asylum podcast the other night I was waiting on someone getting pulled for this lol.
Re: After flirting with YouTube PPV, Mick Hennessy is delighted to be back on free-to-air TV
They summed it up perfectly and if you listened in, will understand my point mate. None of the threads need to change, just the practise of copy and pasting. Instead, just put the link to the original story in the opening post. Simple
Re: After flirting with YouTube PPV, Mick Hennessy is delighted to be back on free-to-air TV
Yeah understand mate. Tbh it's not something I really thought about til I heard that the other night.
That Bensons reason for not putting up links was fuckin laughable! What an absolute weapon!

Agree with this, a summary and link is really the fairest way to do things. I understand why people don't but it's best to do so. Some of the smaller sites depend on those dollars, some writers running independent sites need those pennies to pay their server costs or to even stay encouraged to continue.tobyh5 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 12:28 Mate you need to stop copying and pasting stuff, it is theft of intellectual property.
