In a streetfight my money would be on Hatton ripping him a new arsehole to go with the one in the middle of his face.

Don't mistake boxing skills for streetfighting skills. Ali might have whupped Liston, Frazier and Foreman, but any one of those three men would have murdered him in a fight in an alleyway.

Quite right James.

Boxing and streetfighting are completely different.

However, if somebody who can box, streetfights someone who cant, the boxer might get in a couple of quick shots that finishes the matter swiftly.

It has happened.

Yep, my money would be on someone like Roberto Duran kicking lumps out of most people (well before he hit 20 stone anyway), he apparently knocked that Chuck Zito hells angel guy the fornicate out, when they got into an argument in a bar, and that's when Duran was about 48.

The great Bob Foster had a brother who was a poor fighter in the prize ring, so I read, but alomost unbeatable in a street fight.

They really are two different things.

Derek 'Decca' Simpkin had an indifferent pro record but I reckon he can go some in a pub fight!

Floyd would hit him 5 times before Hatton knew what was happening. Imagine how fast he is without gloves. I had a similar argument with idiots on this site when Tito Ortiz beat Ken Shamrock and people were saying he would beat Roy Jones at the time in a UFC match. Roy would hit him about 10 times before tito could react. Imagine how fast both Mayweather and Roy (Prime) were WITHOUT gloves.

Hatton is lucky he got away without a good hiding there.

hehe this topic makes me laugh, hatton would have his knuckleprints in floyd by the end. He hits harder, and has a better chin, and floyd really is an arse, he seems like the sort who would feel sorry for himself if he really got whacked. And where could floyd run to in a row at the arena? Lets say for whatever reason these 2 did have a street fight, ricky would take him apart, he just does not feel pain in a fight does hatton, and would pound floyd. as good as floyd is he can hint at being a little bit sorry for himself at times. And in a fight, hardman ricky would embarass floyd

They are different things, but there is a poster on here (I wont name him openly) who had over 100 amatuer fights but only half a dozen pro fights. He had hands like lightning.

he was always getting into fights in pubs, but not starting them.

I saw him lay out three squaddies in a pub with a three punch combo. It was like something out of a film.

If the boxer can get his punches in early, he will usually win.

Bollox, just because Ali/Mayweather don't have huge 1punch power doesnt meant they cant hold their own on the street, speed/accuracy is pretty important in street fights. Hatton doesn't even hit particularly harder than Mayweather. The fight would be broke up after 5 seconds anyway

Anyone else read Alis biography where he was talking about been in a cafe after winning olympic gold with another blk kid and about 10 white guys came in and told him to get out and to hand his gold medal over.

Street fights aren't all about punching. No one boxes in street fights, you have to take into account kicks, headlocks, tackles. I reckon Hatton tackles Mayweather and pummels him, how fast can you punch on your back with someone on top of you?. Hatton in between fights would have a lot of weight on Mayweather as well :D

exactly.most street fights end up on the floor if ko is'nt acheived in the 1st exchanges.what happens once these guys lose punching range? and once punching range is lost, its anything goes, biting, gouging, elbows etc....this is where ricky would smash the self styled 'pretty boy'

Depends if you only know how to throw a few punches and not the whole range and dont know how to move your feet. If you do you can smash the slower incoming wrestler to bits. A boxer who acutally knows how to throw his full range of punches from any angle will smash a wrestler to pieces. I've taken a few MMA guys on myself and had a suprisingly easy time.

This has gone horribly off topic.

You lot are fools if you haven't seen either of them actually streetfight. Speculating over bullshit.

At the end of the day, let's stick on topic, Mayweather is playing mind games with Hatton. Hatton being who he is isn't scared of anyone, but he would get his square head boxed off. I'd love to see it.
