Will George Groves be fit for the final ?

If not, who will replace him ? Does anyone know the rules ?

Don't they have secondaries for this reason? Not sure, but IIRC, wasn't there supposed to be reserve fighters in case? I think it was Matvey Korobov for 168 lbs.??? I know it was Glowacki for the CW tournament.

It'd be horrible if they shoehorn Korobov or some weak SMW like Fielding or something. I'd honestly rather Eubank Jr. just advance and face Callum Smith.

Wasn't Martin Murray a reserve at one point?

I’d rather see Eubank Jr in the final than a random reserve. And definitely not Martin Murray who has had more than enough chances already

Groves has just posted "next?" on twitter, so hopefully he'll be fit to take his place.

Only dislocated... just pop it back in!!!

Sorry, it was my fault, I misunderstood the venue.
In my opinion, the final should be postponed (let us say, maximaly, the two months) if Groves is not fit for May.
Again, I don't know the rules of WBSS, but it would be really sad if Korobov (or anybody else) become the finalist.

Yeah, should be fine, will hurt for a week or two, but no lasting damage, it's lucky it didn't happen earlier in the fight, because the longer it's out of it's socket, the worse the potential damage can become.

I hope he will be OK.

If he tore some part of rotator cuff, he won't be ready.

No indication he has; though the two do often go together.

Could they not just purspone it until he is fit?

The final would be a bit of a dud without him.

Yes, the final without GG would be senseless, for me.

I watched the fight with family members and I was struggling to give it my full attention all of the time.

Bear that in mind when I say I was quite shocked when the compubox stats showed Groves throwing and landing the majority of punches. I had the fight very close but I thought Eubank had done enough to win it.

I wouldn't argue the result but I would be happy if they postpone it until Groves is fit or if Eubank is allowed to progress. Either is fine but definitely not a stand-in who has not participated in the tourney so far.

Groves had a bad fight, while Eubank had an awful one. The result and cards were fair. It was hard to give most of the rounds to one of the fighters, as they were landing close to nothing.

I agree. I felt that it was a close thing at the time but suspect a lot of the initial reaction was influenced by which commentary you were subjected to. As far as Richie Woodhall was concerned, Groves had seemingly won the fight by the end of the second round!

Sometimes I really wish there was a way to keep the crowd noise but shut out the commentators.

Yesterday, I promissed I would not write any more post about CEJ-GG fight. I will make only this exception. So, I have been watching the fight on the regional sporting tv channel (covering the great part of Balkan). There were two commentators, and they have been rooting for Eubank, obviously, don't ask me for the reason. During the match, they claimed (ospecially one of them) that ref should have deducted points from Groves, because of holding. After twelve rounds, they had been expecting Eubank's victory (close, but victory). Personally, I feel that Groves has been a little bit better (very, very close), and I was pretty surprised after reading some posts here, on the forum (majority of posters had the wide decision for Groves).
The terrible cut surely did not help Eubank, noone can see properly with blood in his eyes, but it would be so long story.....
So, my score was 115-113 Groves.........I noticed the strange custom here, on this forum. Not so long ago, Lemiuex had become bum overnight, Eubank was yesterday in the same situation. I can recognize the hatred, and I recognized yesterday......
That's it................................

funny, ive seen out of around 100 cards maybe 2 or so ppl say they had it for eubank. one of them then admitted he watched it again and groves deserved it, but neither actually made a detailed case as to why eubank shouldve won and what rounds he won

ah yes, typical blame the commentary for your shitty card and everyone else having it different then you. i watched without sound and could still see that groves won as clear as day. i guess now i have some guys who i know to put on the adelaid bryd caution list for when they talk about who they think won.

madness that some guys are seriously trying to talk eubank up like he deserved it

even eubank sr admitted that groves got his tactics right and had jr figured out. even eubank sr stated this :o
