Made a point

Post by coneye »

ON A previous thread, i made a comment about the importance of padwork , i said how a fighter should use it to maximize feet and punch movement ,,

The is a trend towards fighters using padmen who hold there hands wide wear body pads and don,t move , This looks good and makes tbe boxer think he,s hitting hard , but in reality jit doess Nothing , the fiighter may as well be on the heavy bag

Padwork used correctly with a padman moving , making the boxer find his own distance , and conti ually changing distance is what works ,

We juzt seen Eubank fignting like he,was on the pads and Continually missing , when George moved ,, It was because he has not been trained to punch and move feet , its one or the other ,, EUBANK REALLY has to go get himself a trainer , he has the chin , he has the heart , he has the conditioning , he just needs to get rid of his father and the yes men and learn to use his feet, and how to handle a moving boxer , or padman

ya good point, does look like one was super ficial more of a looking good way of padwork and the other showed more relevant skill that mattered in the fight

you can throw 100 punches in a second or two or whatever it is on the bag or stationary pads, yet if thats all youve got all it takes is a jab and bit of basic movement to shut down like groves did to junior

The current Mayweather trend looks cool at pressers for the uninitiated, but is seems that this has filtered down and boxers are actually training like this.

It is the equivalent of footballers doing keepy-uppy.

It might look good when they do it on Soccer AM but there is no way that Rooney or whoever actually does this in propper training sessions!

I've always suspected that Mayweather had no intention of ever letting his actual training footage be recorded so this fancy looking padwork routine was invented to give people something to gawp at at his open training sessions.

I always got that impression.
