Ahem. Me too.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
I don't think you fell for it. Yesterday you put together a compelling run down of levels of opponent for both fighters with the conclusion that Jr hasent been any where near the level of Groves.jamamb wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 19:13 i fell for it a bit too, but deffo not as bad as other did
hes a decently athletic, fit guy who can take a shot but has next to no skill, ring iq, and lacks serious pop at a high level
ive also seen ppl saying he had the 'it' factor of self belief, intangibles, etc, but funny that doesnt come out when he actually fights top opponents
The fight proved you 100% correct.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
ha, thats true, but i think im a good show of someone who unlogically fell for it because i made a lot of posts highlighting stuff like that and stuff like how groves doesnt actually have the stamina problem ppl bang on about, yet still went with eubank because of some 'gut' feel that he had 'it'
nope

Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
Both times jnr has come up against boxers he struggles. I believe jnr could war with the best of them but anyone that boxes with a game plan beats him.
Jnr really doesn't have much skill at all. He has a solid chin and his work rate is decent. His skills are very limited. Groves made him look amateurish tonight showing basic boxing skills.
Jnr needs a proper trainer to teach him some real skills and how to use his attributes best to his advantage. Maybe he should fight a few euro level fighters before stepping up again. That said I don't think Jnr will ever be a world class fighter, he does however make for some great fights..

He needs to move to the states and get some one that can get the best out of him away from home
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
I get plenty wrong so it’s always a bit of a relief when one goes exactly the way you thought it would.
Eubank could move to the States, employ a world class trainer - maybe even stop posting ludicrous guff on social media. Either way he’ll never be world class. What’s his best win? 37 year old AA who was absolutely done? Some Turkish fella whose fought nobody anywhere near their best or Spike?
He isn’t world class and he’s so far away from it I cannae see him ever getting there

So far in his career, I don't think Groves has proven that he's truly world class. He's a very good fighter but has lost when he's stepped up his level of opposition...So far.
For him to have so comprehensively beaten Eubank shows the level Eubank is operating at. George Groves is a very good boxer, Eubank is an above average boxer who seems to have made a very nice living from it.
Same applies with BJS. Both him and groves will never be the best in a division but are still at least a level above Eubank

Will going back to middleweight help or improve Eubank?
Can he win world titles at middle where he is more suited?

He needs to move back to middleweight for a start. Then lose the attitude and superiority complex. Then get a decent trainer. He's a fit lad and can take a good shot but he was found wanting last night, he needs to change things otherwise the same will happen again.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
What next?
A few more pictures on Socialmedia of him looking arrogant with his top off - a dozen or so short video clips of him hitting a punch bag really fast - a comment or two from Froch stating how Eubank jr’s Breath doesn’t smell as bad as Groves, so he’d beat him in a rematch .... and the rematch is sold and jr odds on favourite again

Instafamous. He’s fit, tough, game and hungry but not a top level boxer.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
He's not the most overrated.
Haye, Price and Cox have all been more overrated than Eubank Jr.

His feet where terrible that is what he'll have to sort out
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
I think his big problem is he's actually lazy. Yeah I'm sure he gets out of breath and sweats a lot, but he doesn't put nearly enough effort into footwork, movement, basics. That stuff isn't fun. Instead he focuses on pounding the pads with flashy combos, and doing flashy showy bullshit. Possibly the biggest issue with training yourself, you don't work on your weaknesses because it's not fun.

Price had a fair bit of hype, The hype for Cox was hardly anything compared to Eubank, as for Haye, undisputed CW champ and HW champ, think the hype was justified.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
The hype was incredible considering that he'd done essentially nothing to earn it.
Eubank was more highly rated, but he also had a record that was about 100x better.
I'm talking about the hype for the washed up version.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑18 Feb 2018, 12:50as for Haye, undisputed CW champ and HW champ, think the hype was justified.
His best result in the last 8 years is beating Dereck Chisora (who had lost 3 of his previous 4 fights).
He's been overrated for years and was far more overrated than Eubank Jr.

Cox is only really overrated by a handful of people on here; most people seem to rate him pretty fairly.
