Daniel Jacobs vs Maciej Sulecki - April 28th

Post by ElJefe »

Hearn just announced this card on his Instagram.

Daniel Jacobs (33-2, 29 KOs) vs Maciej Sulecki (26-0, 10 KOs), April 28th at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn.

Undercard includes Jarrell Miller (20-0-1, 18 KOs) vs Johann Duhaupas (37-4, 24 KOs) and Katie Taylor (8-0, 4 KOs) vs Victoria Noelia Bustos (18-4, 0 KOs (lol)) in a unification of the WBA and IBF female lightweight titles.

Also featuring Shohjahon Ergashev, an undefeated Uzbek light welterweight who fights out of New York and has won all 11 of his fights by stoppage and Polish heavyweight Artur Szpilka who will be looking to rebuild after consecutive losses to Deontay Wilder and Adam Kownacki.

Thoughts?

Sulecki would've been better than Arias. Still, it's not a good fight for Jacobs. Jacobs needs to be fighting Murata, Charlo, Saunders, Andrade, or Derevyanchenko at this point.

Miller/Duhaupus is a good fight, though.

A solid Polish contender. He's not a pushover.

best Polish boxer p4p at the moment, his resume consists Proksa (though he was past his prime, but it was a nice KO on him and broked chin), Centeno Jr (Sulecki dominated him and KOed), Culcay (it was not really good performance by Sulecki, too much hot head, but now Sulecki is back with is old trainer Andrzej Gmitruk who was a trainer of LHW and CW Adamek, he is a good trainer, motivator and tactician, and Sulecki have more respect to him ,previous young trainer was more like a friend and it came out in Culcay fight)

I'll go you one better and say Sulecki is one of the top P4P European fighters right now. After handing Centeno his only loss, Hugo gets the quicker world title shot, but then Sulecki hands highly-regarded Culcay one of his rare losses.

Clearly a VERY deserving challenger and I give him a decent shot vs Jacobs, though Danny will be the favorite.

A lot of guys here dogged the fight when it was first discussed.

I didn't understand the thumbs down attitude.

Everyone always wants a SuperFight or nothing .

Sulecki is a quality opponent. No, doesn't figure to win. Jacobs will be too strong.

But he's a decent enough boxer and will be fairly competitive as long as the bout lasts.

Jacobs certainly could have dug up a much easier opponent. He shouldn't be criticised.

Happy to see Jacobs back. I see people saying Sulecki should bring some amount of challenge. So I will be watching.

sulecki looked very shaky vs culcay and was hurt a number of times. was almost out on his feet in one round. im not expecting all that much from him unless he steps his game up. big time

Sulecki is not much better than Mora. Clear mismatch.

imo Sulecki is clearly better than Mora. except of Quillin (arguably), Jacobs has never beaten a better opponent than Sulecki is.

He's young and prime. He's definitely a more live opponent than Mora.

And possibly Truax. With Truax having just gotten the win over Degale and all, but yeah I'm with ya Sulecki is one of Jacobs' tougher opponents thus far actually.

well i think we can say that Truax got a better resume but is not really a better opponent at all

Sulecki was once, close to face Truax, it was like 2 years ago, it had to be a step up fight for Sulecki, Truax was after Jacobs loss, i remember an interview with Sulecki saying he prefers to face Jacobs, but if he faces Truax it's okay too and better than facing some bum again. instead of Truax he fought Centeno Jr. some say there will be a size advantage for Jacobs but i dont really see that, Sulecki is 3cm taller, similar reach (boxrec measures for Sulecki are obviously wrong) fought recently at LMW but in fact he is a big MW, he beaten Centeno at MW then moved to LMW, he once fought in SMW too. Sulecki said he met Jacobs once and if there will be any size advantage then on his favour. Sulecki choosed to fight Jacobs instead of WBC eliminator vs Martirosyan because as he said he just wants to face best opposition possible. anyway, tomorrow we will see during a press conference and face to face :box:

Sulecki's dominant TKO10 over then-unbeaten Hugo Centeno clearly earned him the shot at Jacobs. Jacobs will be favored but dont count Sulecki out. Other than Danny's 2 losses, the Pole is probably the toughest foe Jacobs has faced so far. Quillin may be a little better when he's on top of his game, but Peter is an inconsistent up & down fighter. Truax has improved a great deal recently so an argument could be made for Caleb > Sulecki, but I dont see Jacobs stopping the Pole inside the distance like he did Truax..

first bookies prediction i have seen are 1,22 on Jacobs win, 3,88 Sulecki win. they give Sulecki bigger chances than i expected, thought it gonna be like 6,00 on Sulecki win

You must be looking at some Polish site. What I see at oddschecker:

Jacobs (1/14)

Draw (25/1)

Sulecki (13/2)

size is not a factor in this fight, which makes Suleckis chances slighty better

Sulecki just fought at 154, and Jacobs is a huge MW. Of course, size is a factor.

out of his 26 fights, Sulecki fought 22 at MW, 3 at LMW and 1 at SMW. he was a huge LWM, and still is a big MW. anyway, we will see
