WBSS weight divisions 2018-19
WBSS weight divisions 2018-19
Kalle has said it is possible they will do three divisions next season.
Which three divisions do you think we will see next season?
I was only allowed 10 choices so picked the ten i felt were most likely.

i want 175:
several good and hard hitting fighters who seem like most of them could be competitive with the others. not a huge money or glamour division either so better chance id figure of getting some of these guys than like at 147, where they make big money for fighting weak opponents
kovalev
bivol
stevenson
jack
beterbiev
gvodyk
browne
alvarez

jack-stevenson and bivol-barrera are happening, but if we have the winner of those and then kovalev, beterbiev, browne, gczodyk, alvarez i think it would be great

175 has the potential to be epic.
But any division without a clear number one would be ideal also, Bantamweight or Light Middleweight for example.

You know what's good about that list? Almost no Americans, thus no promotional rivalriesjamamb wrote: ↑19 Feb 2018, 19:40 i want 175:

Indeed, the promotional landscape in America could mean the WBSS becomes a predominantly European competition.
It would be interesting to see if they went for a lighter weight and were able to get some top Asian boxers involved.

Considering that we could well end up with Holesken vs Feigenbutz as the final on June, they may need to do Supermiddle again next year in order to find a worthy winner.

No way Smith loses that fight!
I think the worst case scenario now, is Braehmer recovers and fights Smith in the final (with a virus, he'll be fit again in a week or two, and he hasn't technically been eliminated).
More likely, the final gets pushed back 4-6 weeks to allow Groves to recover - Kalle Sauerland said on ifl a few weeks here or there is an option, but it can't be pushed back forever. Unless Groves is going to be out of action for a few months, I can't see him not doing everything he can to get Groves in the final.

Find the divisions with the most euros in and you're there probably.
Re: WBSS weight divisions 2018-19
Why are we assuming that there will be a 2nd WBSS series?
There was a lot of hypothetical about "What weight classes would you do a Super Six in" and all that, but we never got a 2nd Super Six did we?
I get the feeling we may never get a 2nd WBSS either. I hope I'm wrong though.

I think there is enough interest by fans to make another series.gilgamesh wrote: ↑20 Feb 2018, 14:11 Why are we assuming that there will be a 2nd WBSS series?

As a fan, I think it has been successfully done this time around. I also haven't read any complaints from the boxers so far.
We should adopt the mindset that if all the top guys (including belt holders) are offered the chance to compete for a career high payday, the chance of unification plus the trophy, and don't compete- then they are duckers. Pure and simple.

Jr. Lightweight would make a great Tournament I think because they have a pretty deep roster right now.
Lightweight and Featherweight would be solid.
Welterweight would obviously be great, but has about as good a chance of happening as a Snow day in July.
After GGG vs Canelo 2 this May a WBSS at Middleweight would be welcome.
Obviously it would be awesome if they did it with the Heavyweights, and would be very welcome as a lot of those guys haven't fought each other. We need more name guys fighting each other at Heavyweight definitely.
