Bradley Skeete vs. Kerman Lejarraga - EBU Title - 24 March 2018

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Bradley “Super” Skeete (27-1, 12 KOs) will have to travel for his shot at the vacant EBU welterweight title after MGZ Promotions won the rights to stage his fight against Spain’s Kerman Lejarraga (24-0, 19 KOs). The fight will take place in Lejarraga’s hometown of Bilbao on March 24 and will be the 30-year-old’s first action of 2018.

Lejarraga's CV looks reasonably good, including an inside distance win over Denton Vassell but I can't help thinking Skeete should be operating at a higher level than this by now.
Is Warren finding it difficult to get him a 'name' opponent because those 'names' consider him too big a risk? Does Bradley not sell enough tickets? Is Bradley himself reluctant to make that step up because he lacks ambition and/or self belief?
I think he has considerable talent but, at 30, time is not entirely on his side. Pity he was so below par against Gavin. That was the biggest fight of Bradley's career thus far, not least because it was on the same bill as Fury-Chisora II and Saunders-Eubank, and he fell way short of doing himself justice.
Just hope he can maintain motivation for this one and doesn't get shafted by dubious judging.
