Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
All talk? Maybe he doesn't think he can make 135 anymore? I hope he does go to 147. He might regret starting with Spence though....

Of course, it is just talk. No way his brother Robert will allow Mikey to fight a killer like Spence.
Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
Mikey, we all know you aren't gonna fight one nor the other.

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
why not Joshua or Wilder ?
Translation: He would rather prefer to move up at 147 and take a beating from a bigger man than move back to 135 and get clowned by Loma.

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
garcia would beat loma
Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
Consindering he was fighting at 126 lbs, moving to welterweight doesn´t seems wise IMO
Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
so do i .
i just think to beat garcia while being a smaller man then him you need to be so good that your even better than loma

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
Garcia says that he's moving to welterweight, maybe by the end of the year. And he has his eyes set on the main men in the division.
He considers Spence a bigger challenge then Lomachenko, and that's why he prefers the welterweight champion.
"I would rather fight Spence (than Lomachenko) , Garcia says. "It's a bigger challenge. A bigger weight class. People may not take me serious but I'm coming to welterweight later. That's going to happen...I'm coming."
Garcia is also eager to have one last hurrah at lightweight, against WBA champ Linares, after his March bout against Lipinets at 140.
"I don't want to take easy fights, I want something that excites me. that motivates me" Garcia continued. "A title and a big name motivates me. And if it's Spence or Thurman, those are the biggest names at welterweight."

Mikey used to beat up Maidana in sparring. I actually think he could hang at WW.

This is true. I've heard those tales.
Most don't recall that Maidana was training for a while with Robert Garcia at Garcia's Oxnard California gym.
Supposedly Robert had no problem having his smaller brother spar with welterweight contender Maidana.
It was always said that little Mikey regularly kicked El Chino's arse in those sparring sessions. Even the Maidana who improved so much under Garcia.

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
He's never been much interested in facing Loma. Perhaps because of Arum or he doesn't want to lose to a vastly smaller guy. Merely talking about a bigger opponent and potentially losing to a bigger opponent isn't as detrimental. Robert would quickly step in before Mikey took much damage anyway.

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
Mikey Garcia has entered the final stages of his career, where he's willing to take huge risks in order to exploit mega-payday opportunities to boost his retirement fund, especially if it means facing fellow PBC stablemates, since those bouts are easy to make.
That being said, Garcia probably won't share the ring with Spence Jr. if he isn't guaranteed to receive a sizable fight purse.
So we'll have to see what happens.

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
Mikey Garcia keeps calling out the top fighters in the world while cherry picking titles against no names like Zlaticanin and Lipinets. He's opting to take these types of fights while clearly there are more entertaining and tougher opponents ready and waiting to negotiate. For instance, in negotiations with Linares recently. Linares surprised Garcia and his team by agreeing to all of Garcia's terms only to see Garcia back out in the last second to take this miserable fight against Lipinets.
I just can't stand boxers that talk out of both sides of their mouth. Spence Jr would absolutely demolish Garcia. The size and power difference is way too great. I'd love to see Garcia get his ass kicked though but Garcia only fights garbage. He'll never take the fight.

Garcia is probably the 4th or 5th best P4P fighter is boxing.
He's fought more talented, world class opponents than Spence or Lomachenko.
To describe his opposition as garbage borders on extreme ignorance.

Are you kidding me? Zlaticanin was an obvious top 5 LW when Garcia KO'd and dominated him, and Lipinets is currently the ONLY effing titlist at 140 lbs.caldo2025 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2018, 08:36 Mikey Garcia keeps calling out the top fighters in the world while cherry picking titles against no names like Zlaticanin and Lipinets. How do you cherry pick top 10 fighters!? You are a ridiculous poster.

The media and all the fight fans tell me how great Garcia is but he has never been in a memorable fight or a fight that I remember what he did...
Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
That's your problem then. Mikey is an obvious p4p fighter.victor-romeo wrote: ↑22 Feb 2018, 13:23 The media and all the fight fans tell me how great Garcia is but he has never been in a memorable fight or a fight that I remember what he did...

Re: Mikey Garcia: I'd Rather Fight Errol Spence Than Lomachenko
The 2 best boxers in the world are Lomachenko and Mikey....
But still..... Have some sense about this Mikey.
Errol Spence is too damned big... he's too tall... and he's too strong for you... He's just too tough and hard punching for a former Lineal Featherweight Champion (who got his nose broken by Salido) to deal with.
Fight Loma first.... You got a better shot and they're both great southpaws... It'll give you a chance to master the style.
