canelo wins clear and gets the w this time. ggg worked his ass off last time to get that draw. i dont see how he does any better. canelo was the more efficient puncher when he did punch and i think he has more room to do more.
tbh, i cant see how canelo loses

They will be Adelaide Byrd, some unknown dude (to take the blame) and this guy.

Even if it is a close fight that Canelo wins, Golovkin fanatics will still call it a robbery.
If their man isn't awarded a decision, there's no room for dissent. It's a flat out robbery aided by corruption.

This. I scored GGG vs Jacobs 7-5, or 6-6 with the KD giving it to Golovkin is equally good. If Jacobs had got the win officially, I wouldn't have complained too much. It was legitimately close.dagilechia wrote: ↑23 Feb 2018, 09:20 first fight was not that close, GGG vs Jacobs was closer imo

GGG vs Canelo was at least 8-4 to Golovkin. Yes, there were close rounds, but people shouldn't mistake that for a close fight.
Clean punching is still the number 1 criteria for scoring a round, and outside of one or two flashy combos, Golovkin had that all night. Maybe his aggression wasn't very effective, but Canelo showed no aggression, so he gets no points there either. Ring generalship and defence are the two lesser criteria. That's how you separate a round, with everything else being even - I'd even argue Golovkin pressing Canelo back behind his jab showed superior ring generalship, as he was the one making the fight his own. Canelo was just reacting, firefighting, the only thing he excelled at in the majority of rounds was defence.
Canelo just tried to follow Leonard's blueprint. That's ok if you want to fool the judges, but it shouldn't win rounds legitimately.
It's like rugby. Team A scores the only try of the game a few minutes from time. Flashy. Eye-catching. The replay gets shown over and over on tv. Does that win them the game? Not if team B kicked 3 penalties in the first half it doesn't, no. Team B got the subtleties right, and racked up the points on the quiet. That's what Golovkin did.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Álvarez vs. Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin II - May 5, 2018
On Friday morning, promoter Tom Loeffler hosted a media breakfast to give more details on his new venture, 360 Promotions, which will be debuting it's club shows in Hollywood on March 27th. Loeffler, who is still the managing director of GGG Promotions, was naturally asked about the rematch between Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez.
So what was the most difficult aspect of consummating this deal?
"Getting 'Canelo' to realize his negotiating position had changed because he lost the first fight. 'Canelo' started out with a position of it was a draw so we should have the same conditions of the first fight. We made a lot of concessions just to get the first fight, thinking not that it would be an easy fight for 'Triple G', that it would be the fight we've been working for: huge profile fight, big pay-per-view fight, and against somebody that would be on the same level or even arguably higher level here in the United States because it was always 'Triple G' carrying the promotion."
In this equation, it was Alvarez who was the bigger attraction and therefore the A-side, who got a larger share of the money.
"So we made a lot of concessions the first time. With the rematch, with the success of the pay-per-view, with the ticket sales there was no way we would agree to the same conditions. There was a rematch clause, we took the position, '(Golovkin) won the fight, not on paper but he won the fight in the ring. So the rematch clause should be in effect, what was negotiated. And 'Canelo' took the position it was a draw and it should be the same conditions. So that's where we started out."
Eventually, Golden Boy Promotions and Golovkin's side came to a resolution that was announced a few weeks ago.
"Slowly we moved forward or closer together and with as the final details. When we said, '90-percent done' - it was just a few small details that needed to be sorted out. Madison Square Garden made a very strong offer, I would say probably equal to what Nevada made but 'Canelo' made it clear he preferred to go back to Las Vegas."

I actually think Canelo was a bit surprised how well he did down the stretch and GGG was equally surprised how hard it was to catch him clean.
IMO Canelo goes in with a slight edge in confidence. That helps him take a decision.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Álvarez vs. Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin II - May 5, 2018
I said it when they signed on to fight Canelo in Vegas the first time, how naive can GGG's Team be to agree to a Vegas fight? Do they even care about getting a fair shake or do they really feel like he can walk through Canelo for a KO? To go and do it again is foolish and clearly shows that the money means more than glory to them. GGG, used to stand for the other way around...glory meant everything.
GGG can not and will not win this fight unless he gets Canelo on the canvas at some point in this fight and he may need multiple knockdowns. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Canelo lost that fight, and he's probably going to lose again. Who knows what will officially happen, the guy gets unfairly rewarded like no other fighter in boxing. Let's just hope for an honest, conclusive ending this time around. A knockout is the only desired outcome here. Everybody's gotta be sick of these Canelito fluffers regurgitating their bias bullshit and fantasy style scoring. And the GGG army can't acknowledge even glaring weaknesses. A legit stoppage puts one of those groups to rest. That's what I hope for.

Yes, its already looking like there will be a third fight as neither of these guys gets knocked out easily. They don't even get knocked down so the judges are important here.caldo2025 wrote: ↑25 Feb 2018, 09:30 I said it when they signed on to fight Canelo in Vegas the first time, how naive can GGG's Team be to agree to a Vegas fight? I guess it comes down to money as usual. GGG always seemed to be going for the glory/all the belts and that option is readily available if we are to believe Saunders. Maybe he really feels time is running out and he needs to cash in. Disappointing, but understandable.
From the outside it appears that the Goldenboy/Canelo cartel act like they hold the cards despite GGG holding the belts. Not sure what Loeffler/Sanchez are negotiating but its looking strangely familiar once more. GGG, as the champion, goes in once more with a psychological disadvantage, and it's a huge ask of him second time round.
We just need to hear that the rehabilitated Adalaide Byrd will be officiating once more and the farce will be complete.
You've sure got to give it to Oscar for his nerve.

If i see Dave Moretti is one of the judges then i'm not going to even watch the fight until the following day. He's a bigger crook than Byrd. No idea how Moretti continues to get the call in the biggest Vegas fights of the year. Moretti will never give a decision to GGG. No shot.Thomastearns wrote: ↑25 Feb 2018, 14:11Yes, its already looking like there will be a third fight as neither of these guys gets knocked out easily. Probably the fights where neither promoter has taken him out to dinner and suggested who the winner should be...
Hate Vegas fights. Even more than Brit vs foreigner in the UK, or German vs foreigner in Germany. At least elsewhere they try not to make it too obvious when something isn't quite right.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Álvarez vs. Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin II - May 5, 2018
Am I the only one who sees this going exactly like the first one?
There is of course the chance for either landing the perfect punch for the KO win but that's quite unlikely to happen. Both have great chins.
Canelo can't fight for full 3 minutes in rounds. He doesn't have the stamina for that. GGG can't catch Canelo who's going to be on hes bike for the whole fight. GGG being the more active of the two should win the rounds just like the last time. Official verdict can be whatever the vegas crooks wan't it to be.
If I ever wanted fight to end in KO this would be the one
