Ugly stuff, matching him with such a feather fisted opponent, wonder if they’re a bit nervous about the DD chin
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Tony Averlant - 24 February 2018
i agree, dans a bit lumbering so far and not remotely like a fast snappy explosive tyson
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Tony Averlant - 24 February 2018
guys with 0 power and far smaller guys. thats whats theyve almost all been. also chinny.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 18:16 Ugly stuff, matching him with such a feather fisted opponent, wonder if they’re a bit nervous about the DD chin

Trouble is, F*rank Is absolutely desperate for DD to be the real thing and he hasn’t got much else on his books, so ultra-cautious matchmaking is the order of the day- for some time to comejamamb wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 18:18guys with 0 power and far smaller guys. thats whats theyve almost all been. also chinny.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 18:16 Ugly stuff, matching him with such a feather fisted opponent, wonder if they’re a bit nervous about the DD chin

I still get the feeling that his chin is not going to be good

Comparisons to Tyson and Bruno?

Jones was a decent punch bag, as these things go. I never thought he would stand up for 3 rounds.

Dubois should be back out in April on the BJS card against Tom Little I reckon.
Gorman in against Webb next on the same card...

Isn't Joyce fighting Little soon? Has it been discussed?wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 18:30 Dubois should be back out in April on the BJS card against Tom Little I reckon...

Well compared to Bruno in a dismissive manner, he said "Bruno with quality" or similar

he was supposed to be fighting Joyce on the original Bellew/Haye card. But Joyce is looking at bigger names now I think...Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 18:31Isn't Joyce fighting Little soon? im not on the hype train yet.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑24 Feb 2018, 18:23 I still get the feeling that his chin is not going to be good
for me hes promising but i see lots of stuff like hes the top prospect in boxing or a sure thing at the top or will already beat top fighters like povetkin (the highly credible boxing monthly editor said this!), but i cant agree yet for some reasons
1. hes looking a bit slow and ponderous and crude. not a quick explosive guy like the mentioned tyson. doesnt really set up his work either despite ppl talking about how great his jab is. just sort of goes in and looks to unload.
2. very carefully matched with opponents chosen to greatly minimize risk but be there for the big ko. hence all the chinny, small, and powerless opponents. i noticed actually that the hype really took off after he kod howe, but howe is made of fine china and even cornish kod him in like 90 seconds.
3. related to 3, hes very untested and we really know very little of most attributes or how he deals when put on defense
4. he had pretty much no senior amateur career, so its not like hes coming with a pedigree where hes bringing lots of wins vs guys who are now top pros and can thus give some more context to where he may be at. and he wasnt an olympic champ like aj whod won at the highest level. with that sort of background id have more confidence.

Brave guy, he’s hitting Yarde back
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Tony Averlant - 24 February 2018
First 3 to Yarde. I'll be surprised if Averlant survives the 4th.

Does Yarde always fight with his mouth open ?

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Tony Averlant - 24 February 2018
mouth open but his body movements dont make it seem likes hes tired
averlant down twice from body shots in the 6th, looks almost done
