Scott Westgarth Injured in Doncaster

Post by thepocketrocket »

he won the English title but it seems there has been a medical emergency, and accordingly the show has been cancelled as medics needed with him.

Zero idea if it is serious or precautionary as not there, but I am sure we will all say a prayer.

Hoping Scott has a full recovery. He's a nice lad and his dad John is a nice fella too.

Lets just hope he makes a full recovery.

Been keeping an eye open for updates but heard nothing yet.
I had a lad box him on an unlicensed show in sheffield before they both turned pro (corey Jackson) and while we was happy with corey earning a ko win it was sad to come home from the show and hear this had happened to scott on the same night. both similar records as pro's and I personally was hoping they may meet again in the pro ranks. Scotts a nice lad and i wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully its not as serious as some comments ive seen in facebook have suggested. Im trying to take those comments with a pinch of salt as i dont know how close they are to him, if at all.

Edit :: Sounds serious enough according to this link from the star

Awful news.....you hope in the modern era that this just ends up with them having to retire. We sometimes forget how dangerous this is as incidents like this are rare.

It gets rammed home quick what these guys put on the line for us.

He put his life on the line for the sake of a couple of grand that he likely had to sell tickets to earn the right to fight.

The wage structure in boxing has to change so the reward meets the risk.

RIP Scott. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

horrible news.

I only really follow heavyweights (partly because I don't like the speed and duration of lower weights) but this was light heavy.

terrible news.
