That’s not important right now.... but I’ve spoken to boxers who have beeen interviewed CLOSE UP by Colin, and say it’s not a syrup.

If it's real, its a fantastic case of folical engineering!
I’ve been assured it is. However he may not be doing himself any favours by wearing the exact same haircut for 50 years.

Bennie off here could buy and sell him for boxing knowledge.

Graham Houston is worth 10 Colin Hart's. Unless he's talking about "Ali and Rumble In The Jungle" he's two bob. No insight or intellect. Writes as he speaks. Laughably useless.

It's his condescending tone which pisses me off. I was at the Rumble In the Jungle so therefore I'm more qualified than you.

I'll never forget Colin Hart being rather snotty about Lennox Lewis's power, seconds before he splattered Tyrell Biggs :OhYes:

Colin Hart is everything that I dislike about the old school view point of boxing.
These days we have BoxRec to look at fighters' records and Youtube to watch fights, son that we can make our own minds' up about fighters.

Hart has a tendency (and Burt Sugar did it as well) to either overpraise a fighter that he likes, and turn him in to a mythical iconic figure - particularly an obscure fighter that the casual boxing fan wouldn't know.

Colin Hart does it with Nino Valdes - describing him as a "great fighter" who was blatantly ducked by Rocky Marciano and the sucession of Champions around that time.

Burt Sugar always tended to do it with Sam Langford. He would tell stories about Langford KOing guys in the first 3 rounds, then when I checked the official record, the fight was scored a newspaper decision.

Coming back to Colin Hart, listen to some of the tripe that he's spouting in this clip:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cX6dMenAtY

Fast-forwarding to 03:50
"He was a myth." in talking about Rocky Marciano.

Then at 05:05
"There was one man, one of the best fighters oh his era - Nino Valdes from Cuba"

Hart really perpetuates this myth constantly.

And, as I say Burt Sugar talks about Sam Langford:

So did I. It never changed shape.... it just went greyer.... but I can tell you this, I personally asked a good friend of mine who was a serious force in British boxing and has been interviewed many times by Colin. He swore down it was not a syrup. This guy is very trustworthy and honest and I believe him. His eye sight has always been good and he’d have spotted a bloody ferret on a man’s head!

Ps glad the old laughing emoji is back. The other one was hard to read

Back in the day when each national newspaper had their own boxing correspondent, there was immense pressure on those journalists not to upset the promoters, managers and boxers who provided the daily 'food' for their articles. If you came out and openly criticised Solomons, Levene, Duff or Jim Wicks then you could 'whistle' for the next interview or 'inside' information.
Colin Hart ignored this. He called it as he saw it and forgot about the consequences. That's why he tipped Bugner to beat Cooper.
I think I'd be correct in suggesting that Colin has very little interest in the current boxing scene for a whole variety of reasons, many of which I'd share, and can imagine his reaction to the rubbish on this thread. Utter contempt.

I remember he completely ruined the commentary of Tyson/Douglas because immediately after the knockout, he was droning on and on and on and on about James J Braddock. The other commentator kept trying to bring it back to the unbelievable action that had just occurred but no, old Colin wanted to show off about his boxing knowledge so everyone had to listen to it. Also his speech defect makes me want to shoot him in the face.
Beat me to it with the Tyson v Douglas coomentary, banging on about what Ali would do to Tyson, did my head in :witzend:

Well that's rather a handicap if you're current job is writing about the current boxing scene. If he feels so strongly, write about something else.

Anyone have a print copy of the current Boxing News? Take a look at the photo of Mr Hart on page 9. It’s a new level of fig wearing. It looks like something you put on a LEGO figure. Legend.
