Kevin Lerena vs Dmytro Kucher

Post by handsofstone »

B-Nation showing this card from South Africa at teatime this Saturday, a 12 round Cruiserweight contest, the IBO title on the line, cant say ive heard of Lerena, he's the home fighter coming off a SD win over Kalenga and also has a win over Bolonti, his only loss was a decision to a fella named Johnny Muller which he evenged by TKO

Kucher of course is a former European champ who sent Maccarinelli into retirement with an early KO, last time I seen him he lost a fairly comfortable decision to Huck, he's a come forward aggressive fighter but looked a bit crude that night, only 9 of Lerena's 19 wins have come by stoppage which suggests he's more of a boxer so I assume being at home, he'll be fav

Hard to make a prediction having never seen Lerena but considering Kucher was outboxed by a finished Huck i'll go with Lerena on points

I've got it 117-111 Lerena on my card, pretty dire fight, the pattern never really changed over the 12 rounds apart from Kucher getting slightly busier although giving he didn't do that much throughout it wasn't hard, Kucher was out of shape and flat all night just pushing out his punches, even when he was in close he never really let the right hand go with any real intent

Lerena looked alright, moves around well, isn't a big puncher but is strong and landed some crisp shots, his southpaw style seemed to trouble Kucher who although kept walking forward wasn't effective, Lerena didn't have too much bother avoiding his rare attacks, deserved win for Lerena he threw all the eye catching combinations

Theres been that many fights on this weekend, ive been tiptoeing around boxrec today avoiding results :D , I learned all I had to know about Kucher after the Huck fight, he's poor

Lerena is definitely ok though, the division will be like scraps soon so he might get a title shot
