It's a strange tone, almost a bit of self loathing going on. He knows he will be at the next show, and the next and the next and nothing will change in spite of all the condolences and the well wishers. Its a mugs game and an abnormal way of making a living in modern life but still people are drawn to it.

Agreed, the tone was strange. I assume he was implicitly responding to something some journalist or other has said?

Very odd. It read as if Buncey had written the article after being awake for 4 days straight or something, it was all over the place in tone and style.

I’ve no idea if it is the case here as I’d never heard of either fighter until Sunday, but I wonder if the increased use of PEDs is taking its toll. Bigger, faster, stronger doesn’t sound like too great a combo if you’re being thumped about the head for a hobby/living.

Dunno, have they actually gotten more prevelent? A lot of these accidents have happened around British level or below too.

I dont think its PEDs although they wont help. The reason I say this is that it doesn't seem to happen at h/w. My guess would be the problem is more sophisticated weight making than in the past, a lot of blokes are fighting at weight levels they dont naturally make.

I dont think the weight issues had a factor in this. Scott always seemed in great shape and never seemed to increase in weight after fights. He always seemed in good nick to be honest.

Because he knew his limitations i dont think he was the type to be taking stuff to artificially increase his body. He wasnt the type to be calling other boxers names on social media, he was what i saw a genuine lad who just loved boxing.

Papers say he was the underdog in the fight suggesting that he was out of his depth but both lads were novices still taking the next step up the ladder. Scott had 2 losses but 1 i believe was on a cut and the other loss was arguble.

It was very strange indeed. A bitter and vague diatribe.

I find it particularly tasteless how he routinely boasts about the time he's spent in hospital waiting rooms. He did recently on the Costello and Bunce podcast
