Tell us when there's a verdict and payout...
There are always a million lawsuits filed in Boxing that are tossed out.... So far the only lawsuits I've seen reap significant fruit were Manny Pacquiao's suits against Mayweather, his dad, Golden Boy, De La Hoya and other top principles who accused him of taking PED's.... Pacquiao won a substantial out-of-court settlement when it was feared that Mayweather and Golden Boy had no legal leg to stand on... Even there, Pacquiao didn't pursue the lawsuit to the bitter end -- but took the settlement... He probably left 100's of millions on the table....
Does anyone know if any boxer ever successfully sued Don King or Bob Arum??? .... Or better yet Al Haymon???

Apparently I was not clear in my post. . . .The fact is that Haymon/PBC has LOST about half a billion dollars! and the investors in Waddel &Reed (who provided the money) filed suits in 2016. There doesn't seem to be a plan or avenue to earn it back or recover the money. It is lost and gone forever. . . .making them the biggest losers in the history of the sport.Kalan wrote: ↑27 Feb 2018, 20:27 Tell us when there's a verdict and payout...

I believe ODLH won a lawsuit over Arum some moons ago---maybe 15 years--- when Oscar wanted out of TR and was intent on promoting himself.Kalan wrote: ↑27 Feb 2018, 20:27 Tell us when there's a verdict and payout...

I recall that in court, De La Hoya won the right to break his contract with Arum and afterward gloated in an interview that he beat one of the biggest Jews to come out of Harvard.
That remark raised some furor in the media and De La Hoya had to issue an apology for coming across as somewhat intolerant and perhaps a wee bit racist.
So yes, my recollection is that at least one lawsuit has been successful against Arum.

Losers? Scammers! I see it with all of Al Haymond his boxers, he stole about a 100 milion dollars of Povetkin as well.

Re: The biggest loser in the history of boxing!. . . .
When Povetkin fought Klitschko he made like 20 mil I thought, he was about to get a world title again, he was very popular all over the world and in fact still makes more money as Wilder does each match. Povetkin had 4 matches ever since and actually should have had 5 matches if Wilder actually showed up instead of celebrating holiday in the UK.SenorPipino wrote: ↑28 Feb 2018, 08:36
Seriously?
Has Povetkin come anywhere close to earning $100 million in his career?
Even earning $10 million sounds like a stretch.
5*20 mil is 100 mil, on top of that he payed Wilder several millions because the American judges turn out to be a bunch of scammers who refuse to listen to doctors but do believe Wilder his team blind, even when the facts and numbers proof Wilder his team wrong. Even Wada/Vada their current rules rule Povetkin 100% innocent, his sample of back then wouldn't even be mentioned at all in current standards. Also, the sport of boxing would have been much bigger since Povetkin actually does fight top contenders, unlike Wilder, who only destroys the sport as much as he can purely for money.

Only asdfjkl could find a way to inject a Povetkin discussion in this one..lol. He's good. I'll give it him. By the way, asdfjkl (Aka really Povetkin), your English is getting a lot better. Dustin Nichols was 398 when he lost to Wilder. That's the biggest I know of

No no no scratch the last one.... Nichols was 450 when he lost to Justin Jones ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

Also, this lawsuit doesn’t affect the sport of boxing, the PBC or Al Haymon in any way, since the plaintiffs (the shareholders financing the PBC hedge fund) have only sued several investiment management companies, such as Ivy, Waddell & Reed, as well as several others.
Finally, based on the rumours I’ve heard, coupled with the lack of activity relating to this lawsuit confirming people's suspicions (since nothing has progressed since April of last year), which implies that Waddell & Reed et al may have already settled the case, sold the debt or a combination of both.

My gawd. . . .I must be a low IQ. . . .My point in starting this thread was the massive amount of money that Haymon/PBC LOST!. . . .The lawsuits merely was evidence that pointed that fact out.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑28 Feb 2018, 10:14Why should people talk about an event that occurred more than two years ago?actjac wrote: ↑27 Feb 2018, 19:38The biggest loser in the history of boxing!. . . .

Are you suggesting that the "Current Scene" section of the BoxRec forum should be used to discuss boxing "History"?
There's already a separate BoxRec board that is used to discuss Boxing History.

Povetkin got paid $5.808.332 for the Wlad fight. Never even before or since than he made $1million for a single fight. He was going to make $2.078.250 for the Wilder fight if it happened in May 2016.asdfjkl wrote: ↑28 Feb 2018, 08:41When Povetkin fought Klitschko he made like 20 mil I thought, he was about to get a world title again, he was very popular all over the world and in fact still makes more money as Wilder does each match. i grew up with free boxing. the more they privitized it with this cable and HBO, the more it went south.
take it away from the masses and you hurt the game.

Exactly, while he normally would have earned 20m+ each match. Hopefully he will receive another titleshot soon, I think that one will generate 20m+ as well for the winner., despite he's currently less popular and competative as he used to be when he was suppost to be the heavyweight champ.Boxing Writer wrote: ↑28 Feb 2018, 12:16Povetkin got paid $5.808.332 for the Wlad fight. Someone remind me what brilliant things PBC has done in boxing after it's great signing of fighters and brief run of big scale promotions.
Its profile has certainly dropped off and lots of uninteresting career moves are trundling along under it's banner.
I'd feel swindled too if I'd invested in the show of all that fanfare.

It's of course ludicrous to argue that Povetkin has been paid mega-purses and is a member of that very rare $100 million+ club.
Only the true elites, the rare superstars of boxing have cracked that figure.
Povetkin is no superstar.

Povetkin is no superstar.
Even if your reported $5.2 million purses, is really the same as $20 million according to asdjfkl math?
And that all this money was apparently stolen by Haymon leaving Povetkin no choice but to become a PED addict to recoup his losses?
And that Wilder was also complicit in stealing Povetkin's money, presumably so he could pay off corrupt American labs, doctors and/or judges and also finance some big bash in the UK?
And that Wilder is destroying boxing because he fights professionally for money while Povetkin---the $100 million man---has only altruistic motives for fighting?
Keep in touch in case I need further clarifications.
