Boxers dont make the best streetfighters usually due to the fact they are not trained or used to coping with other forms of attack other than punches.

I have seen a fair few boxers get proper hidings.

When Duran beat Leonard, he was able to do so because he was able to make him stand and trade for long periods, even then Leonard had more than a few moments, and that was also because he got inside Leonard's head bigtime. I don't think Hatton is anywhere near as good as Duran in terms of skill, he relies on physical strength a lot more than Duran, and doesn't have anything like as good a defence.
mayweather isn't impossible to pin down.

virtually everybody who's faced him has got close, they just haven't had the quality in there punches to do much when they get there.

hatton is an excellent punch picker and very good in combinations. :box: he can switch his attacks well and i feel he would get thru mayweather's defensive guard and outscore him over the distance.

my one worry for hatton is cuts. mayweather has just the type of punches to bust hatton up and take it out of the judges hands.

Hatton isn't a punch picker by any stretch. The most accurate display I've seen from him was against Tackie, where he used a corkscrew jab and straight right to keep Tackie at bay. The other extreme is the Tszyu fight, where he mauled and roughed up the Russian strongman to prevent him letting his hands go.

It's not enough to get close to Mayweather, as you say, lots of people have done that, then get there and find they can't really hit him cleanly. Judah is a very quick man, and once Mayweather found his zone, he couldn't do shit to Mayweather.

I feel that Hatton's best chance would be to get on Mayweather's chest, and pound his arms, hips and try and bring the hands down by landing to the solar plexus and the pit of the stomach. Trying to outbox Mayweather is like trying to derail a train with your head.

definitely, boxing and street fighting are very different, as different as boxing and ufc and therefore fights involving the same ppl from a professional fight could well be wildly different with a differentvictor. most street fights end very early, a matter of seconds or a couple of minutes, whereas boxing's all about taking your time, pacing, planning.

paul briggs (top class light heavy, narrowly beaten by adamek for wbc title last yr) gives some excellent descriptions in his great book HEART SOUL FIRE. his dad brought him up kick/thai boxing, and his old man could just about sort anyone out in a very short time during security work etc...but when paul briggs saw his dad in a boxing match on tv, he was nowhere near the hard man, got slowly taken apart and quit on the floor
