Gavin McDonnell is underrated

Post by tigermoth87 »

I never really see him get mentioned when really, he's a solid fighter. Boring, I usually find his fights to be dull. But he's pretty good.

Put up a good performance against Vargas losing by MD (I scored it 115-113 for Vargas but still, a solid performance against a world class fighter), has just beat Gamal Yafai pretty comfortably, took a few 0s in his career and has some decent British/Euro level wins.

He's a good fighter.,

i agree. done esp. great considering lack of am career. he unsurprisingly fights very much like brother

though i had vargas beating him 117-111 and couldnt see more then 4 rounds for him, so dont agree with you on that fight. the draw card was awful .

although even then i couldnt see as many rounds for vargas challengers since, so gavin aint done too bad by comparison

FairPlay to Gavin. That was a very good performance, that 10th round was punch perfect and should have been scored a 10-8.

He's what I would call Euro/fringe level and last night solidified that.

Super bantam hasn't got much talent depth so I think he has a decent standing. For me the only world class fighters are Vargas and Magdeleno. But the latter has not kicked on after beating Nonito Donaire. Plus I'm not sure he can do the weight.

Isaac Dogboe looks like one to watch. Tomoki Kameda ( who lost to Jamie McDonnell ) is there as well.

If I'm Hearn I would get Gavin to an IBF mandatory position against Iwasa ( lost to Haskins a couple of years ago)
