Who should Ortiz fight next?
Who should Ortiz fight next?
(If he stays active) Who would you like to see Luis "King Kong" Ortiz (28-1, 24 KO's) fight next?
Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
Retire. Shot his bolt in the seventh when he had Wilder going. Plodded forward for the first 5 rounds and offered very little. Zero head movement. Last few rounds were entertaining but if I was AJ I wouldn't be losing any sleep tbh.
Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
AJ, AJ, AJ...puleeeeeze..."what's your favorite ice-cream." "I don't know, but AJ would've licked it!"

Ortiz vs Povetkin...battle of the juicers
Or just Ortiz vs Any Top 20 Heavyweight would be interesting.
Honestly though Ortiz himself didn't seem too interested in announcing any "next fight" or anything last night. He may be ready to just call it a career. We'll see.

Would love to see Povetkin/Ortiz and then wave goodbye to both...gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 14:15 Ortiz vs Povetkin...battle of the juicers

I'm fine...just laughed too hard at your assessment. Seems everything here is based on the great Anthony Joshua. No one talks about the entertainment we were blessed to see as fight fans last evening. That is all...lay off the lead paint 'mate.'

Cannot happen, Haymon and Riabinski must settle the lawsuit issues first...oogiebe wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 14:22Would love to see Povetkin/Ortiz and then wave goodbye to both...gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 14:15 Ortiz vs Povetkin...battle of the juicers

Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
He should try & target the loser of Joshua v Parker.
He's still a big name with some cachet.
PS: He should be nicked The Camel instead of King Kong: He's forever spitting in the ring!

As carefully as Haymon matches his guys, I doubt it very much.bigman1968 wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 14:28He’ll take any fight vs Haymon’s prospects-)))gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 14:15 Ortiz vs Povetkin...battle of the juicers

Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
Read my post again you absolute mutt! I said 'entertaining last few rounds'. The first 5 rounds were woeful and if you found that entertaining then you need your inbred skull looked at.
I'm not an AJ fan as such either so your point is moot. It's Wilder AJ next up probably so it's only natural to compare the two.

Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
I think he might call it a day now but I would like to see him fight again. a fight vs any loser of the upcoming heavyweight fights would be a good fight.
Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
Ortiz may not have a lot of time left. In fact, given his loss by KO, he may not even be 100% in his next fight. I would like to see him in an evenly-matched fight that is most likely to reveal something. So basically someone in the #3-7 range, like Povetkin, Pulev, Parker, or Miller.
Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
Any of the contenders fighting each other for any reason would be welcome at Heavyweight. Most of the fighters at Heavy got thin resumes...even the guys at the top.Lackeos wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 15:32 Ortiz may not have a lot of time left. Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
I'm actually extremely curious of what we're going to get on Tyson Fury's re-entrance. He is so difficult to fight I almost agree with him about giving fits to every heavyweight out there. He's like a tall strong Jimmy Young...so unconventional and so very tough.gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 15:49Any of the contenders fighting each other for any reason would be welcome at Heavyweight. Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
The rematch against Wilder is not necessary. AJ is busy and he'll fight Povetkin, after they both deal with their current opponents, which is very likely. He could have tested some top contenders, like Whyte or Miller, but those are busy too. So, he can beat some journeyman and then try to enter top level again. Maybe H. Fury or Kownacki. However, he's not young, so the retirement seems like a valid option too.
Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
He's a fat tub of sh*t that won his title in a staring contest. Wilder or Joshua both flatten him inside 5 rounds. He's a joke, and a disgrace to the sport.oogiebe wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 15:56I'm actually extremely curious of what we're going to get on Tyson Fury's re-entrance. LOL He's a joke but he's one of those fighters that make it tough to look good. So awkward...gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 16:08He's a fat tub of sh*t that won his title in a staring contest. Wilder or Joshua both flatten him inside 5 rounds. He's a joke, and a disgrace to the sport.
Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
I figure moving around the ring and outslicking guys becomes kinda hard when you've gained 150 pounds or so of obesity and nosedived into a mountain of cocaine.
I expect when he comes back they'll match him against 1 or 2 of the softest, easiest marks they can find just to let him get a win and then feed him to AJ.
I have no doubt whatsoever that AJ beats him. Wilder would too. They're athletes. Not fat tubs of sh*t that win staring contests.

LOL...tell us how you really feel! I'm sure Fury would have loved to have Bruce Selden to fight.gilgamesh wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 16:13 I figure moving around the ring and outslicking guys becomes kinda hard when you've gained 150 pounds or so of obesity and nosedived into a mountain of cocaine.

Re: Who should Ortiz fight next?
Briggs would be a good opponent for Fury's comeback because Briggs has the attention of a few Boxing nerds on the internet, and is at least perceived by some morons to be a threat still. So that might be a good win for Fury to come back on. Briggs would be mildly dangerous for about 120 seconds and then Fury could just win a staring contest...we know he loves that.
