Wilders sprinting technique
I’ve notice from wilder, especially after an opponent backs off, he sprints forwards, hands down, chin out, body square (not in a stance), then windmills when he gets there
A thought out, straight right would take him out. He literally sprints at the opponent, seen it a dozen times now. If someone like AJ was to land, it’d be doubly devastating as he’s running towards

He also runs backwards from attacks with his hands straight up in the air.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑04 Mar 2018, 10:50 I’ve notice from wilder, especially after an opponent backs off, he sprints forwards, hands down, chin out, body square (not in a stance), then windmills when he gets there

As I said last night, least skilled heavyweight champ I've ever seen but his athleticism, speed & punch makes it interesting.
I wouldn't rule him out against anybody.

Re: Wilders sprinting technique
Said the exact same thing to the lads at training today, running in the way he does, hes asking for a powerful backhand, crazy boxing style
Re: Wilders sprinting technique
As you said it would double up the effectiveness of the shot .
His technique is all over the place tbh , but makes for entertaining fights .
I honestly think Joshua would do a job on him and a fully fit Fury would make him look silly .

Re: Wilders sprinting technique
He’s a bizarre spectacle to watch at times but he is very quick for a heavyweight and he obviously hits very hard, often from unexpected angles.
I’d make Joshua a favourite but I wouldn’t be parting with much money on it. If either lands clean there’s every chance that that’s it all over.
Joshua has a much tighter technique, but is obviously a bit more ponderous - hard to be much else at 245lb. Wilder is technically all over the place but he has fast hands and feet and natural athleticism to make up for it.
Would be an excellent fight to make. I’d edge Joshua but I’m always minded to back the more conservative guy when both are punchers, however Wilders speed makes me a bit uncomfortable. If Wilder lands clean I believe he puts Joshua to sleep.

I honestly am intrigued on how the Povetkin fight would have went....Ortiz is arguably better boxer but Povetkin is tough and would probably not have gassed. Wilder deserves credit but I do wanna see him starched by AJ.
Re: Wilders sprinting technique
I think he & Fury would be incredibly boring.
Or not.

I can see Fury hanging all over Wilder, spoiling like a motherfucker... It's something Wilder's never seen & I have no idea if Deontay is strong enough to throw an eighteen stone lump about in the clinch to get room for one of those haymakers.
But I have the feeling it would be like Ebola for the eyeballs.

Yeah it's crazy and extremely fun to watch. I mean, a 6ft 10000 guy sprinting at you full pelt would make most sh1t their pants... but a backhand from AJ or Ortiz when he was 25 (75 years ago) would clean him out

It'd be horrendous to watch but the Fury that fought Wlad (ie. fit, healthy, up for it), would gamingly frustrate the will out of Wilder and yeah, he aint moving Fury for sh1tDatsue wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 05:58I can see Fury hanging all over Wilder, spoiling like a motherfucker... What makes a guy like Wilder so dangerous is the way he does so many things wrong , AND he can punch , Now i know thats not rocket science , ANYONE with a punch can be dangerous , but his unorthodox way of boxing , goes against the way its supposed to be ,
You will get , a guy who has spent his life , training to fight boxers , guys who will perform to a basic way of boxing , and all of a sudden he's in with a big puncher who does'nt do what he's supposed to do , and quite often its not something he's prepared for , the unorthodox guy , does'nt throw what he's supposed to ,
When AJ gets down to some serious training for this fight , in his sparring he should include a few rnds each sesion with a big tall , absolute novice with instructions to take Aj's head off , with everything including the kitchen sink , At the same time AJ instructed not to hurt him , but encourage him , to let them fly ,, This will help Aj get used to the unexpected , which is what Wilder throws .

Re: Wilders sprinting technique
So basically this could be exploited by a clever l, skilled and tough boxer with a solid punch by pretending to be hurt, while not getting hit badly, and either getting out of range, or maybe clinching and getting thrown out of range, and then timing him on the way in.
Given how rich the current division is with talent, I'm not holding my breath. Maybe he could get caught with a desperate swing.

Re: Wilders sprinting technique
Wilder is there to be out boxed and cleverly fought to a ko all night long
No grace
No grace
Re: Wilders sprinting technique
Nah , it would be fun ,
The promo press conferences would be epic .
You could imagine Wilder throwing wild haymakers and hitting air and Fury throwing some daft dance moves , singing a bit of opera in-between punches , he would slip everything thrown his way and jab and counter his head off and win over the distance - if he was fit .
Joshua on the other hand would demolish him within 6 rounds.
Re: Wilders sprinting technique
I've never rated Wilder but he impressed be against Ortiz.
Ortiz was in shape and came to win, he hurt Wilder too. Nevertheless the Yank soaked it up and came back in style, winning it in the championship rounds.
It's one thing stopping Ortiz because he was exhausted but it wasn't like that, stopping a hard man like him was quality work.
I still don't think he has enough to trouble Joshua or Fury, but let's see, the guy has clearly come on leaps and bounds and is a genuine puncher.

Re: Wilders sprinting technique
I think he's gone backwards since the Stiverne fight. He looked a lot more like a proper boxer then. Now he looks like a guy swinging like a madman and literally running around the ring.Coco wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 15:29 I've never rated Wilder but he impressed be against Ortiz.

Re: Wilders sprinting technique
i would ask, since stiverne 1, what exactly has he improved on?
the improvement suggestions tend to be vague and not with reference to anything specific.
hes got great natural tools, such as the height, reach, speed, power, stamina, etc. but hes always had that i think. the part where he could use big improvement is precisely the area where he seems to have the least change.
as i keep saying, with all those great natural tools, do you really think if he had even a decent technique/style game that hed be having any issue with guys like szpilka? no. and if his technique was really as bamboozingly effective as some suggest, hed be absolutely breezing every fight.
