Jason Easton vs Glenn Foot

Post by handsofstone »

For the vacant Commonwealth Super Lightweight title on the Taylor/Campos card this Saturday, the title vacated by Josh, really good fight this, 50/50, Foot has the experience, former Prizefighter champ and lost a TD to Eggington for the British and Commonwealth titles up at WW, been in with some good fighters and always comes to win, he's a right handful and I thought he was unlucky not to get the nod against Leather last time , he nearly had him out of there early

Easton loves a tear up himself, punches hard and recently stopped Jamoye which was a great win at this stage of his career, also the Szabo KO was a cracker, he's gonna be in some fights himself, he has a good engine and plenty of heart, leaves himself open at times though

Still no sure how this one goes, Foot showed against Leather he's still a force, some similarities to the Clark/Barrett fight maybe?

Foot is durable and ive seen Easton stand up to some big shots, it'll be a shoot out, I like Foot but I'm hoping Easton takes this and I reckon he'll outpoint Foot

I've been looking forward to this more than the main tbh. Tough to call. Hopefully Easton can grind out a result but it's a hard fight.

Cracking fight that but really it was one way traffic, gutted for Easton but I'm happy for Foot, he's had a tough career and had some unfortunate luck but he was inspired tonight, couldn't miss Easton with the right hand, anytime Easton looked like he might be getting into the fight Foot would come firing back, Easton's lack of defense has been shown in the past and he loves a tear up, good chin but I don't like seeing him constantly taking big shots like he did tonight, he needs to keep his hands up and move his head a lot more, he's got plenty heart and recovered well after the knockdown in the 2nd and a few other times he was rocked

Bad KO for Easton hope he's ok but well done to Foot he's a right handful

Good post, Hands.

I've not watched much of Easton, but does he normally blink so much and shake his head from side to side like that?

Easton took some bombs tonight, really hope he's ok. His youth and fitness got him through that far. Well done to Foot. Been a tough journey so far for him as well.

Easton makes John Murray or Callum Smith look like paragons of defensive head movement. He just literally throws punches with his head in the same place almost the whole time. At least they keep their hands up. That was painful to watch, as Mcguigan brilliantly put during the Benn-Eubank 1 commentary, the kind of fight that will make an old man out of yeh. Easton needs to seriously re-examine his style. He actually showed some skills to box and move about round 8 or 9 maybe, and he did it when he was knackered and had been punched in the head really hard about 50 times, so it isn't beyond his ability. But, fvck, it was painful watching at several points that fight.

Well done Billy Nelson at the end of the fight reacting so quick to the situation.. His corner has got to do better though... I watched the fight on my phone and thought Jason should of been pulled out 2-3 rounds before.. Watching it on TV is brutal he was really distressed in there.. Just pray everything is ok and Jason is safe..

Glens been screwed a couple of times. Thoght he did enough agaist brown and he straight up beat leather. Drop down to lww has been the difference, too small at ww. Hes tough as nails and bringing all his experience to the ring.
Hope easton is ok. Was blinking for about 3-4 rounds before the end. Glad it didnt go 12.

Does anyone really rate Easton, and see him going far? Tough mush and all that but defense is terrible and I don't think he moves too well at all

Can't see him climbing the levels an becoming successful but spose it's what ya like

foot did look tiny at ww, him vs eggington was huge huge size difference. hes a physical fighter so being smaller will be even more of a problem then if he were some slick boxer

My Dad said the same today, thought Easton should've been pulled out sooner, I didn't like seeing him take those shots its reminded me of Blackwell when I was watching it

Handsofstone- read your original comment and quite funny me and Ronnie were at show speaking to Glenn foots dad after fight who also made that comparison, only he didn't know he was speaking to the guy who beat Barrett ha. Little awkward ha.

Jason is a lovely guy and although I agree it could have been stopped a little earlier Jason was landing really good shots right up to stoppage I guess they felt he could still come on strong. As for corner Kenny has been we Jason since he was a wee boy. Loves Jason and he knows him better than anyone so not gonna say to much. Jason needs a good break and maybe come back heavier as he is a big guy.

Great scrap this but started like others to get worried with the blinking of the eyes and the head movement. Bless Billy getting involved with advice and urging Easton on. Good on him getting his gum shield out and onto his side.

Normally quite like Alex Arthur's commentary but he was annoying the fornicate out of me. All he kept saying was Easton is strong, never looses steam will come on strong etc and it was evident Easton was knackered and his punches didn't have the pop they once did.

Hope both fighters have a rest after this and come back and get some good fights off the back of it.

Easton took too much punishment in there, Foot was landing flush shots every round.

Easton had his moments but he looked out of his depth to me with not a lot of idea on how to get out of the deep water he was clearly in.

He's in for a short career if he doesn't use his obvious attributes.

Sounds like his lack of defensive capability is an attribute of his downfall. No head movement or guard, just how do you expect to get to the next level if youve no way of avoiding punches and your chin is weak?

Absolutely cracking fight. 10/10 for entertainment value.

Easton could do with a drop in opposition for a few fights. He's been in one tough fight after another and still only had a dozen bouts.

Great win for Foot who worked hard for the win and his career deserved a boost. He's kept plugging away despite some setbacks.
