Brook: I'm Putting 154 Champs on Notice - I'm a Massive Threat!

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Kell Brook wants something a bit bigger for his next outing.

"I'm a massive threat. Nobody's ever done that to Rabchenko. He's a respected champion and I destroyed him in two round with ease," Brook told Sky Sports.

"I feel great a few pounds heavier. It's still new territory. I'm going to get back in the gym, learn again and get comfortable with this weight. I'm going to improve fight after fight.

"I'm putting the champions on notice. I'm here at 154 pounds and I'm excited."

Wouldn't go that far lol.

Brook is a threat IMO. Whether he can beat the top guys at the weight remains to be seen but he's a quality operator and hits hard so he's a legitimate threat. All this talk of this being his last year unsettles me though. I doubt we'll ever see him fight at championship level at 154. It'll be another safe fight next then Khan then the way he's been talking he's off after that.

It was all talk. But now that he won this within 2 rounds, i genuinely think he wants to stay around longer.. i didn't like the Rabchenko fight. It told us nothing about where Brook is. This was basically a repeat of Brook vs. Bizier.

Some wrote that, this goes to show that only P4P fighters can beat Brook. But then who can Brook beat? He's only beat Porter.. does this mean anytime he steps up against a P4P fighter he's going to lose? Where does that rank Brook?

Remains to be seen if he can challenge the champions at 154. I'd fancy him against Hurd. Charlo, I'm not sure about and Lara, I don't really want to see. He bores me to tears. I hope you're right and he does stick around longer and we can find out because I believe he has a lot left to offer if he manages to stay injury free.

Now Eddie Hearn is chatting bubbles.

“Rabchenko is world level but he’s not elite level, but what Kell did to him just shows you he is 100 per ent elite level.

“He didn’t get the best out of what he could have at welterweight. The only reason he couldn’t beat Errol Spence is because of what he had to do to make 147lbs. He would beat Errol Spence at 154lbs, no question.

“Errol Spence is a very good fighter but at welterweight (Brook) can’t do it. He feels as though he can make welterweight but I truly believe this is the weight.”

Spence could come up to 154 and smash brook up all over again, tomorrow.

Brook would find he isn't the only one who gains by coming up in weight a bit. Spence's style is a nightmare for Kell, always has been always will be.

So what does that make ggg and Spence who smashed Brook to bits? What is a level above 'elite level'?

Rabchenko isn't world level to be honest.

Also, just because Brook beat Rabchenko, how does that make him Elite?

Tony Harrison beat Rabchenko in 2016.. I guess Harrison is elite now? :maybe:

Borderline world class..

I really hoped his fight vs Vargas went ahead. The unification fight, before he decided to commit suicide against GGG. He could have answered all these questions.

"If Kell Brook gets a world title I'll fight him at 154," wrote Errol Spence Jr., who recently took to social media and offered rematch to former world champion Kell Brook if he wins a title in the jr. middleweight division.

Both Brook and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, were quick to accept the challenge.

 I imagine Camp Eddie and the team will find a way to be slightly less enthusiastic about a Spence matchup before it ever goes ahead.

Brook ain't the man he was imo, we'll see what he can do here but doubt he'll make as a big a dent as he reckons he is

This Brook fight was never going to impress me . He was fighting a sparring partner he has used before and probably knew his weaknesses .

Steady. Let's not rewrite history. The Brook Spence fight was a pretty evenly contested one in the main.

So do I but the first fight was pretty competitive for the most part. Certainly closer than some are making out.

Kell was winning rounds whilst losing the fight. His tank was being stripped quicker in the act of winning the rounds he won than Spence's was stripped in (narrowly) losing them, in my opinion. Which showed itself in the fact that Spence won about the last 4 or 5, and winjing them much more clearly.

Yes, I generally agree with that overall view of the pattern of the fight but it was still close even though Spence was in the ascendency. I disagree that Spence "smashed him to bits". Whilst I think Spence would win a rematch at 154lbs I don't think it's a foregone conclusion as I think Brook could be more competitive at 154 and would be extremely unlucky to have an injury like the eye socket again.

In fairness to Eddie, he’s been saying for a few years that Brook should move up to 154. Making WW was clearly a big struggle for him, and I’ll happily give Brook credit for defending against Spence when the easier option would have been to drop the belt and move up after the Golovkin fight.

It was a pretty competitive fight. Brook struggled at the weight. Spence was the better man but a rematch at 154 would be interesting. I'd still back Spence but I wouldn't completely disregard Brook either.
