Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
When Alexander Povetkin tested positive for PED’s, I gave him the benefit of the doubt until the situation had been clearly investigated and an outcome declared in court, prior to deciding to deride for cheating.
Similarly, I assumed that Luis Ortiz was innocent until he actually admitted taking banned substances, for admitting that he didn't declare them and for his failure for requesting a TUE, prior to deciding to deride him for trying to hide his consumption of masking agents.
At the moment, until the situation has been clarified, I will choose to remain consistent with my actions and assume that Canelo is currently innocent of committing any wrongdoing, until the situation has been thoroughly investigated.
I hope that others will adopt the same mind-set, but I seriously doubt it, because Canelo is a very unpopular fighter and many will relish the opportunity to insult him even further and will also appreciate being given an additional reason to hate him even more.
Regardless this is clearly bad news for Las Vegas, HBO, K2, GBP, GGG and the sports’ governing bodies, since the potential cancellation of the Golovkin-Canelo rematch would cost everybody involved an awful lot of money!
As a genuine fan of the sport of boxing, not a “hater”, I am really disappointed about hearing this news.

Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
Really? Mexican Luis Nery has just been suspended indefinitely by the WBC for being 3 pounds over the weight limit for his rematch against Yamanaka.
Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
And all that stuff tells, that everything will be handled, such fight just can't be cancelled.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 05:30 Regardless this is clearly bad news for Las Vegas, HBO, K2, GBP, GGG and the sports’ governing bodies, since the potential cancellation of the Golovkin-Canelo rematch would cost everybody involved an awful lot of money!

WBC, WBA Back Canelo in Test Controversy: He is Innoncent!
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman believes the boxer is innocent.
"We are going to follow the same line that we have taken in each of the positives [for other boxers who tested positive for clenbuteral]. We will follow the protocol and we will work with the boxing commission where the fight will take place to get to the bottom of things," said Sulaiman to ESPN Deportes.
"In a superficial way, as far as we know about clenbuterol, because of the level found and with the clean record of Canelo, who has been a part of the program of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency for four years and had never tested positive, and considering that the problem of clenbuterol is a public health issue - everything indicates that it is a food contamination."
Gilberto Mendoza, the President of the WBA, is also backing Canelo with this problem.
"I believe in Canelo's innocence. He has always shown himself to be a clean athlete. It seems that the issue of clenbuterol is a common problem in Mexico, and on some occasions a sister organization like the WBC has had to study this problem more often in the past and I think they will have much more experience in this regard.
"I know that it is within the levels that are reflected by the consumption of contaminated meat and as I have been able to read that he will undergo any test and if it maintains that, then the WBA will be on Canelo's side with the doors wide open as we have always done. We are going to have a big fight on May 5. This will add a bit of drama to the fight. I know the fight will continue, and we will agree to establish additional protocols, although this procedure is led by VADA and there should be no problem."

Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
I'm fascinated that everyone seems so well-informed as to what the expected levels would be from someone eating Clenbuterol-taminated meat. you'd almost think such a thing was common. almost like they've done experiments, just in case.
so, (1) they fed Clenbuterol to a cow, then (2) slaughtered the cow (3) harvested its meat, and (4) gave it to various athletes just to see what the effects might be, then (5) under strict protocols- note: these athletes must be clean athletes so no false readings can be given here- they made those athletes undergo comprehensive, and expensive drug testing. all to see what the effects might be of eating contaminated meat. I'm impressed. I'm especially impressed that the heads of both the WBC and WBA seem to be so well-informed about what the expected levels might be having eaten contaminated meat. it's almost as though a whole system was set up just to cater for this sort of eventuality. 'Just in case'. Very impressive thoroughness from the organisations in question.

Clen is often used as a masking agent for other PED's too - it only has a half life of 48 hours, and can be used for impressive gains with little to no side effects if the dosage is right (a friend uses/has used it regularly).

Quite. It's staggering that the biggest name in the sport and a multi millionnaire expects people to believe he buys crap meat from his local market, and this has contaminated his piss. Absolute nonsense.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 07:03it's almost like a reverse rush-to-judgement, isn't it?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 06:18

Is it really so unreasonable for the WBA to assume innocence until guilt has been proven? What are you talking about when you mention “a reverse rush-to-judgement”?Counter-puncher wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 07:03it's almost like a reverse rush-to-judgement, isn't it?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 06:18

You’re not seriously proposing that people should be automatically condemned without requiring the need for any investigation being performed?
I honestly don’t know whether Canelo is guilty of committing any wrongdoing, but I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt until the situation has been clearly reviewed by all parties involved.
As a fan of the sport of boxing, I would receive far more enjoyment from witnessing a GGG-Canelo rematch than I would from the cancellation of the fight, with the Mexican being suspended.
Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
Don't really understand how they can let this fight go on. Canelo tested postive and the fight should be canceled. Cheating is cheating, end of story.
The meat-story sounds like BS.

beause, they aren't merely saying 'innocent until proven guilty', are they?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 07:26Is it really so unreasonable for the WBA to assume innocence until guilt has been proven? they have already come out to say they are positive he is innocent, that they can tell already that contaminated meat is the problem, etc etc
thats why i call it a reverse rush-to-judgement. they are fvcking falling over themselves to label the guy innocent before the facts are fully established
do you not notice that distinction? that they aren't merely saying what you are, 'innocent until proven guilty', they're giving fvcking character references. jesus they couldn't be more fvcking obvious.

Almost impossible to speculate why the biggest money-earner in the US's failed drugs test would be disparaged by two sanctioning bodies to which he has paid vast sums in the past & stands to pay vast sums to in future, almost impossible...

Oh yeah, he got treated so harshly—after all, he only came in two weight divisions north of the guy he was fighting...
After he failed a drugs test & smashed the ever-living fvck out of the poor pudendum the first time.
Savage the way that they treated him, absolutely savage. I for one would've liked action to be postponed until after Nery's next fight, just to see if he learned his lesson after the first two times.
Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
If eating meat from China or Mexico poses a risk, wouldn't you think someone as rich as Canelo, and with millions at stake, take careful safeguards and would eat meat that is imported from the US? Maybe Victor Conte was right after all. PED tests are more of an IQ test than anything else.
Re: Canelo Álvarez Tests Positive For Clenbuterol
Canelo: "I am an athlete who respects the sport and this surprises me and bothers me because it had never happened to me. I will submit to all the tests that require me to clarify this embarrassing situation and I trust that at the end the truth will prevail."
isn't this what every other doper has said..

IIRC it is a steroid, in terms of chemical structure, but not an anabolic, which is what most people mean by steroid.hoagylt wrote: ↑06 Mar 2018, 11:12It is not a steroid, i is a stimulant.craigjenkins05 wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 18:29Increases lean muscle mass too it's the steroid in asthma pumps to help with breathing and I'm sure it's been used as a masking agent before

He does have stamina issues. He usually doesn't fight more than 2 minutes a round and tends to take long periods off.
