Mikey Garcia vs. Sergey Lipinets live on Box-Nation

Mikey Garcia will attempt to become a four-weight world champion when he faces unbeaten 140-pound titleholder Sergey Lipinets exclusively live on Box-Nation this Saturday night.

With a win, Garcia would become only the third fighter in modern history to become champion at 126, 130, 135 and 140-pounds, joining future Hall of Famers Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.

Taking place at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Garcia, who hails from a famous boxing family, will be looking to do them proud this weekend.

This is a perfectly acceptable fight for Garcia. The problem is, the guys so talented he needs a career defining fight sharpish. You’d hope it would be either Linares or Loma.

I'd prefer to see him drop back down to 135 to fight Linares. I don't really have any interest in seeing him at 140 unless he goes straight in with other champions - winner of Relikh/Barthelemy (WBA) or winner of Flanagan/Hooker (WBO), is Prograis/Indongo for the WBC? - but even those aren't fights that will really build a legacy. If it's not Linares, Loma or Davis at 135 then I want to see him put his balls on the line and challenge the top names at 147.

Should be a fairly routine 4th belt for Garcia, I dont mind Lipinets, only seen him a couple of times, he's looked aggressive and last time when he beat Kondo for the title he boxed pretty clever for 12 rounds and won clearly, Garcia is a massive step up in class though, even at the higher weight I expect him to be too good for Lipinets, MIkey will be too mobile to allow Lipinets to impose his strength and Garcia will pepper him constantly whilst moving in and out, his accuracy is that good and he might even stop Lipinets

Barthelemy had a had a few close calls I remember thinking he was lucky to get win over Bey as well, he flatters to deceive sometimes, I thought Relikh beat Burns as well so he's had the opposite luck of Barthelemy

Garcia is probably the best pound for pound puncher in the game so I can't say Lipinets will go the distance but if Lipinets tries to win the fight I think he will end up getting starched. If he realizes early that he can't win the fight and sees it as a moral victory to last the distance, as a lot of fighters do, then I can definitely see him doing that with a negative, safety first style.

If you fancy longshots Lipinets is +1200 to KO Garcia and an even longer +2500 to take a decision.

Overall, no matter how long he survives, Lipinets is not expected to be competitive.
