Boxrec states RTD 8. TKO Stoppage came 2 seconds into Round 9 as stated by Jimmy Lennon Jnr and reported by ESPN, Sky Sports and many others.

“Jose Uzcategui gained revenge over Andre Dirrell with a technical knockout at the start of the ninth round of their New York rematch.”

“After extended conversation in Dirrell's corner, the round referee Ricky Gonzalez stopped the fight two seconds into the ninth round”
Andre Dirrell v José Uzcátegui
Re: Andre Dirrell v José Uzcátegui
We already had that discussion many times, most recently for Spence vs. Peterson. BoxRec records such wins as RTD 8, time 3:00. Dirrell did not come out to fight in round 9, there was no action in round 9.
Re: Andre Dirrell v José Uzcátegui
Sorry, I thought boxrec listed official results not an interpretation.
Re: Andre Dirrell v José Uzcátegui
What about an official report stating that fighter A won a unanimous decision over 8 rounds, in a fight scheduled for 8 rounds, with scores of 59-55 from all three judges. Shall we enter exactly that, then? What if a report states a KO win, although the referee clearly intervened to stop the fight with both fighters standing, one punching and the other one defending? You must understand that we HAVE to interprete from case to case, because every case is different.
Re: Andre Dirrell v José Uzcátegui
Those things would be obvious mistakes and rightly questioned.
Claiming that a round hasn’t officially started because “no action” took place is an interpretation of when an actual round starts. When does a round officially start? When the timekeeper rings the bell to start the round. Dirrell being ready for action is neither here nor there.

When is a visitor free to leave this forum? When he/she doesn't like BoxRec's policies. They are and will be our policies, point blank. Everyone is free to visit a different website if BoxRec and what we do is not appreciated. There are enough other boxing sites.
Re: Andre Dirrell v José Uzcátegui
Questioning your policy on this specific matter doesn’t mean the site isn’t appreciated as a whole.

Found a glitch
Roy Jones Jr.
2017-02-17 197½ 46➞48 Bobby Gunn 199 11➞11 21 6 1 Chase Center, Wilmington W TKO 8/12
time: 0:07 | referee: Bill Clancy | Mark D'Attilio | Brian Costello | Dorothea Perry
vacant World Boxing Foundation World Cruiserweight Title (supervisor: James Gibbs)
-----------------------------------------
Why is this not registered as 7th round RTD?
The 8th round started.. after 7 seconds the fight was called off.. There was no action int he round. So you've gone against your own rule..
Or is it the case that the fight was less important than Dirrell-Uzcategui and Spence-Peterson
