Good choice, his size alone will give Joyce valuable experience. This is what fighters need different experiences as they learn.

At 32 (33 in September) they have to keep him busy at this stage.

Would like to see him out every 4-6 weeks or so, ready for a step up towards the end of this year then push on in 2019.

Never seen Palmer fight but 6'10 and 8 KOs in 9 fights suggest he'll at least give Joyce something to think about.

Yes especially as it seems unlikely that his team will be able to nail down stronger opponents. (not through lack of trying of course).

pretty much every ultra giant hw ive seen (like near 7 feet) has totally sucked. makes me wonder if being that tall is a big hit on actual athleticism and functionality.

they look scary and are intimidating until they actually start fighting

given who this guys lost against and only won a split decision against, im guessing hell be similar

The only thing he'll give Joyce to think about is where the neutral corner is. This guy is big with a padded record full of easy opponents and he still managed to lose one and draw another. They're bringing him so the crowd can yell "TIMBERRR"

I disagree with the comments on this type of opponent, I think he's appalling.

Whilst he boasts a winning record, the calibre of opponents are very poor. Understand this may be a keep busy fight but they need a better step up for Joyce on the Bellew Haye card. Do wonder if his win against Lewison will hamper him, purely because people can see what he can do.

They should chuck money at Lenroy Thomas, get the Commonwealth title, it's a nice route for him and he then has some value rather just being an unbeaten 3-0 pro.

agree, id never even heard of palmer ( or the last guy, and i follow hw close) and hes got a valueless record with loss and draw vs very poor opposition

joyce is almost 33 and has 0 time to waste, he shouldnt have gone a clear ways backward since his debut

lenroy would be good for the may card joyce is supposed to be on

I skimmed through one of his fights on YouTube. Didn’t seem anything particularly special, took quite a few rounds to TKO a much older fighter who was reasonably competitive. I’m not sold on him being 6’10” either. The ref would have been the same height if he stood up straight and there was a wrestler/hillbilly looking bloke in his corner that must have been at least 6’7 if 6’10 is right.

6’10 is the gimmick that gets him fights like this.

I don't mind this opponent for Joyce as long as he's out again ASAP after he takes care of business. The fact they've sacrificed a good British title fight to show this on 5 this Saturday is fuckin rank though!

Good to see Joyce having fight's in quick succession - All speculation is towards May 5th though when it's evident there in clear discussions to try and find him an opponent at a higher level. Joyce's age means he has not got time on his side and needs to make progress at a much increased rate compared to other prospects.
