Heavyweight season - POLL - HAVE YOUR SAY

Post by armageto »

So next season. We have a poll to decide the matter.

Would you prefer to see a "Heavyweight Champion" season?
Which would mean that ALL Heavyweights are available to choose from.

OR

Would you prefer to see a "Heavyweight Challenger" season?
Which mean that a dozen or so of the highest-rated Heavyweights are not available - in order to make it a level playing field for everyone.
(we would be excluding the likes of Ali, Marciano, Louis, Dempsey, Tyson, Johnson, Jeffries, Holmes and Frazier, there may be more)

For me, the only option is HEAVYWEIGHT!

Over the course of the past 4 or 5 seasons we have had went through practically all the great cast lineups of fighters throughout the weight classes.

The heavyweights for me, shouId be next

HW season works for me as well. Stick to drafting 3 guys? Add on one CW per manager to draft, with two HW's, where it would mirror this season? Or something else?

I don't mind a 40 week season. It seems to work and gives us plenty of time for all the tournaments and such. We just have to find a way to stay constant or speed it up. We lost a few managers this season, some not even returning from last season.

Crease had mentioned something about having a European Championship, and making it mandatory that we all draft at least One European Heavyweight to compete for said title. That might be an interesting idea.

How many good Euro HW's are there, and then how do they compare to all the other HW's? That is my issue. Klitschko's, Schmeling, I guess Lewis/Fitz....all those guys will get drafted irregardless, outside maybe Fitzsimmons. Now we are left with Haye, Adamek, etc.

I just feel you can get (I'm assuming?) better versions of Haye/Adamek at CW. Lewis and Klitschko's should have their hopes (I hope, especially Lewis) set to major titles. Jirov, Mormeck, De Leon, Gomez, Usyk, Bell, Hernandez, etc..I think would make for good matchups. Plus they can go up and challenge some HW's, which would be interesting. I'm all for what the majority agree on. The Euro idea sounded good at first, until I really started thinking of the roster. Unless I'm missing a ton of Euro's I forgot about, there really isn't a ton of talent there once the big guns are going for major gold.

I understand what you are saying & your right in that Lennox should be looking at World Championships but wasnt he dual nationaloty? So we could register him as a Canadian.

I would also add Primo Carnera, Ingemar Johansson to the Euro fighters list. We could probably put a list of 2 dozen or so together.

how about another p4p season? all fighters in all divisions would be available.

I've also wanted to do something with the women boxers.

I wouldn't be enthusiastic about either idea. Though I don't mind P4P rankings the idea of Willie Pep fighting Ali even in a simulated battle and beating him just rubs me the wrong way.

After being 2 minutes late after drawing first draft choice this season and being forced to the end of the line for my lowful todying, (Another very clever way to attempt to "even the playing field" for the rest of you) I'm almost ready to take the next season seriously. Which would put most of these various fly by night mom and poppers out of the sim biz.

Maybe we can get some new recruits to sign up as grist for the mill this season.

If each of us selects a potential candidate for The Sim and PMs him, we might double our ranks...

I remember my first season which was a HW season all fighters chosen had to have a ranking of 12 and below. Seemed like a pretty good way to even the playing field IMO.

That's definitely an idea. Could someone tell us which Heavyweights have an overall rating of 13 and above - so we can see who we are striking off the list.

after a quick look, we have Ali, Marciano, Louis, Dempsey, Tyson, Johnson, Jeffries, Holmes and Frazier that are all rated above 12, there may be more once the division is ironed out with everyone that has fought there.

Thanks for the information, Mr Fist. Maybe the best way to decide this is to have a poll. And let the majority decide.

Jeez, I don't know what to do.

I totally get what Mr 'Geto is saying about leveling the playing field... And if it were any other weight division, I would agree with him. But I am a fan of the Heavyweights.

Really on the fence here.

if we have a rating cap I think it should be 9 or 10 not 12, if we're trying to level the playing field that is the way to do it.

In reality, we aren't going to have as many managers as our bigger seasons. Thus unless you draft drunk or pick a favourite, every manager should get a top tier HW. I just think taking out the top guys dilutes the field even more.

We should have included my CW idea into the poll. Am I the only one a fan of it?

I don't mind the Cruiserweight idea at all. I voted "All in" in the poll we have by the way, but I wouldn't be opposed to including Top Cruiserweights in the mix. Several of them have competed at Heavy anyway.

Jean Marc Mormeck, Dwight Qawi, Guillermo Jones, Tomasz Adamek...lots of guys have moved up to compete at Heavy with varying levels of success.

so normally I would put everyone who has a Heavyweight rating in the division which means any cruiser that fought there would be there but their ratings would be drastically different in some cases, for example, J.M. Mormeck has a rating of 8 as a cruiser but only a 4 at Heavyweight. Holyfield is 12 at CW and 11 at HW, if we left them as Cruiserweights and did it like the light Middleweights I'd be fine with that.....

.........or we could draft some women for a third fighter, it's never been done before, let's make Boxrec sim history!, lol
