Crawford vs Horn broadcast?
Crawford vs Horn broadcast?
Is this event still on PPV or is it going to be on ESPN? I see no mention of this fight on the ESPN website schedule or on the Top Rank website. I've yet to see any promos.

I don't think they've even confirmed a venue. Last I saw, Mandalay was being closely looked at. Maybe it has been confirmed. Maybe I missed it.

The fight is officially at the Mandalay Bay. It will be televised on PPV.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Mar 2018, 15:02I don't think they've even confirmed a venue. Last I saw, Mandalay was being closely looked at. Maybe it has been confirmed. Maybe I missed it.

I think it's just gonna be on ESPN actually without Pac on the undercard. I don't know if there's been any confirmation yet, but I think they've nixed the PPV idea without Pac's involvement.chuck9788 wrote: ↑08 Mar 2018, 16:42The fight is officially at the Mandalay Bay. I think that's one reason Pac refused to take part. Being on the undercard not only reduces his high-profile but prevents him from getting a % of the PPV receipts.gilgamesh wrote: ↑08 Mar 2018, 17:02I think it's just gonna be on ESPN actually without Pac on the undercard. No mention of whether fight is on PPV or ESPN.
It will bomb on PPV. Less than 300,000 views, I'm certain. It may have trouble exceeding 225,000.
Arum beads needs to showcase Crawford on semi-free ESPN. Not bury him on a PPV card that few will purchase.
We'll see.

Crawford is good to watch. But there is no appeal.. IMO, Arum should have had him fight Pac a few yeara ago. You sometimes become a PPV star when you either fight 1 or beat 1..

Postol was a nobody despite his stoppage of Matthysse. And Crawford simply has not had enough television exposure to attract paying customers.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 Mar 2018, 15:44Crawford-Postol did 55k on HBO PPV..SenorPipino wrote: ↑09 Mar 2018, 15:20Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 Mar 2018, 05:54 Confirmed officially today.

Certainly Crawford needs to defeat a star to become one himself. Pacquiao didn't gain mainstream appeal until he stopped superstar De La Hoya.
Beating Horn on PPV will do nothing for Crawford's marketability. Except for hardcore fans, the average viewer has already forgotten Horn's name.
His win over Pac was 8 long months ago. Most casual fans have already forgotten that Pacquiao lost.
The more I think about it, I'm probably being generous saying that Crawford-Horn could attract 300,000. Now I'd say that 200,000 would be a success.
