ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
Can anyone verify whether the two bouts these two were fought in eight ounce gloves or ten ounce? Anyone know for sure....pls post...........
..
Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
I think they were 8 oz but I'm not positive... For my eye they look 8 oz... As I watched the Quarry-Spencer fight in early '68 -- now if I remember correctly I believe it was that fight -- they announced on the air the new California rule and 10 oz gloves would be used for the first time at Heavyweight... Now there was a lot of back and forth about this rule -- a lot of discussion about it... I don't know if other states had the rule first... California kind of led the way on these things so it's possible that was the first time 10 oz were used at Heavyweight.

OK THANKS, ANYWAY YOU COULD FIND OUT FOR SURE....?
......
Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
It's not that important, but I think they were 8 oz... You can spend an hour researching it if it's that big a deal for you.

Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
IT IS SIGNIFICANT..............SE IF ANYONE HERE CAN ANSWER FOR SURE......

Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
I concur with VATECH......in most conversations.....the accurate answer to a specific posed question.......is both relevant and significant within the context of the given conversation.
Perhaps Kalan was referring to it's significance within the context of Molecular Bio Physics. In which case Kalan might be on to something here. I don't know the answer, but if I happen upon some authoritative info...I'll buzz back by and share what I learned and it's source.

Bully for you BuzzBox... In not being willing to take your valuable time to track down the weight in no uncertain terms.
Most top trainers - because they've laced on and taped up hundreds of gloves of various sizes on hundreds of boxers.... would take one look at those gloves and say "They're 8 oz" ... but they wouldn't be positive less they weighed them.
But I would get on the case straight away if I were you... It's of earth shaking significance.

Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
It's just a question that has been posed. VaTech.....Kalan says they are 8 oz.
He's a pretty informed fella according to him....so....I'd just about half believe him on this.

Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
Another thing you could do is check into it right??? ..... I could be wrong.

Yes, but you are willing to take the time to be obnoxious and idiotic, so...there you have it.Kalan wrote: ↑08 Mar 2018, 22:10 Bully for you BuzzBox... In not being willing to take your valuable time to track down the weight in no uncertain terms.

Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
Do you actually READ your posts? You come across as pompous; nasty; and you always, and I mean always, have something nasty to say to all. You are like a politician...you say anything that makes you seem smarter even though it is asinine, childish, and without merit and expect everyone to believe it no matter how pathetic. So don't throw stones.Kalan wrote: ↑10 Mar 2018, 00:38Until now we were having fun and you have to be mean spirited... You're fulla bullcrap and come across as a hateful jerk.... I never say anything nasty unless you get nasty and personal with me first... I'm entitled to my point of view and present it with cold, hard, accurate facts to back it up.
Since I don't think the 21st Century's top boxers have been a bunch losers -- and don't think 50's, '60's, and 70's boxers were necessarily the greatest ever -- and I don't think American boxers are necessarily the best boxers on the planet in every instance, a few dim witted ignoramuses have taken the occasion to attack me personally without presenting any counter argument whatever. I give it back in kind on occasion but often ignore the idiots. The posters who starts these attacks are the ones who should be banned and there'd be a lot more decorum here.

Re: ALI VS LISTON --- 1964.
Hateful Jerk...did I hurt your feelings? I agree that it's ludicrous to compare fighters (heavy's) from different eras, but, you really invite counterattacks rather than responses. Let's start over and be tame it a bit. Maybe you will be better received, as I have had no issues in the forum. Seems you get a lot. I had another post today that actually complimented you so calm down and kill creepers.Kalan wrote: ↑10 Mar 2018, 14:03 You're fulla bullcrap and come across as a hateful jerk.... You didn't hurt my feelings... I'm used to knee jerk attack from non-thinkers... It's not ludicrous to compare fighters because it’s done all the time. In fact, that's what makes up 90% of any discussion on any Boxing Forum. Anytime anybody makes a Top-10 ATG list he's comparing his picks to every other boxer who ever fought... People are always posting "time tunnel" match-ups such as Braddock vs Marciano and whatnot... People respond because it's fun. However for a few it doesn't seem to be fun. They take it personally if you say Joshua would have beaten Ali - as if Ali is sacrosanct and never lost to short, fat, hittable, chinny, or novice opponents.oogiebe wrote: ↑10 Mar 2018, 14:05Hateful Jerk...did I hurt your feelings? What if whoever gets them looses them or they get stolen ?
Because that is how history gets lost, when eventually it gets into the hands of someone who really doesn't give a sh*t.

I would wager that collectors own those pair of gloves, not a museum.
