I seriously don't get this "Oh he's so brave" schtick after he blatantly cheated on the weight (& if he didn't blatantly cheat, WTF is up with refusing a check weigh in?).
The excuse is a bad foot in training or something but I was a little drunk last night so only vaguely remember what was said.
So, if he has an excuse it's okay now? Sorry, I can't let this one go. It's fvcking bullshit, like Luis Nery's weight shenanigans.

Also, while I'm up on my high horse, how the fvck does a foot injury come into it when he refused to let anyone know how much weight he gained back after the fcking weigh in? Which, FFS, he missed in the first place?!

Utter, utter bullshit. Cannot understand anyone blinkered enough to defend him, frankly.
That's because you're an idiot.

Now, off you can f*ck Son

That's a pretty pathetic response, mate.

Boxers generally get punched in the face, win or lose.
His face tells a picture. We can't see the internal damage. He takes too many punches.
It's pathetic. Both fighters got injured in a gruelling fight.

Posting a photo of one in an attempt to say he didn't do ok is pathetic.

Yeh, pretty pathetic.. If you're going there.. Did you not see Valdez's mouth all busted up? Broken jaw as well? I wonder who caused that.
Valdez made the weight at featherweight. Quigg didn't bother, refused a check-weigh and decided to come in the ring at welterweight.

Winging in hooks and getting clouted around in the process isn't going to win him many fights at the top level.

Might as well come back to the UK, because he has gone backwards since being stateside.

One fighter holds a world title. The other was given a paper belt but when he steps up he gets beat up. Time for him to call it a day whilst he has his health.

If they both had even a little defence, they both could've avoided the amount of punishment they received.

Quigg was just putting his head low with his hands by his side and Valdez was actually defending with his teeth, eh I mean face..

By not making the stipulated weight he managed to come in heavier last night.

3 pounds both times..

I can't help but think, Valdez isn't that good. He's a good fighter, average boxer. Top brawler. Big heart. But the more fights he has like this, he'll be finished soon.

He beat Quigg comprehensively. Quigg should walk away now whilst he has his health.

Freddie is stretched so thin these days, I wonder if there is any more than just having his name pinned to you and his (hard to comprehend) corner advice?
Quigg didn't look any better for the Wildcard training/coaching.
Who would be a good coach for him?
Obviously his defence needs remedial work.

After this Quigg will be in line for more shots, but he has to win a title to get back in the big money.
Also these fights take their toll.

We have a strange sport when a guy in the top 10 in the world should retire just because he can't beat the top 2 or 3.

So much animosity and complaining here.

I thought last night's bout was simply a terrific contest, no matter who you were rooting for.

Both Quigg and Valdez dug down as deep over 12 rounds as you're ever likely to see with two fighters.

Lesser fighters---and that would include quite a few---would have quit in the face of the adversity each encountered.

Busted nose. Fractured jaw. Half severed tongue. Blood dripping everywhere. Absolute exhaustion.

So how can anyone question the resolve, resiliency and refuse-to-lose mentality displayed in that ring last night?

Sure Quigg came in overweight, and for that, he does deserve condemnation.

But with nothing to gain, he fought his heart out and displayed the moxie few modern boxers care to develop.

And Valdez, with his superior movement and quickness, probably could have played it safe and boxed his way to a comfortable, dull decision.

Instead the battered champion went toe to toe with the much bigger, strong Quigg and yet came away with a deserved, gut-check decision.

Is there anyone out there who wouldn't want to see both Valdez and Quigg in the ring again, after last night's war?

It was FOTY worthy and yet too many prefer to nitpick instead about the deficiencies of each boxer.

They should both be applauded.

Selby/Warrington loser or Kid Galahad would probably make sense. Although I'd love it if everyone just ignored Galahad and never gave him a big fight.

Ingle is the obvious answer, but wouldn't go anywhere near the likes of Quigg as his style is the polar opposite .

I have always liked the lad , but at top level he ain't going to cut the mustard .

Learnt nothing stateside and can't help think Tesco was doing a better job .

Maybe McGuigan would be a good choice of trainer for him, particularly now he doesn't work with Frampton. He'd be able to work with Quigg's style and might help him get a bit better.

Joe is dogged in his preparation and in a big fight has opponents chasing the tail of his man. He also appreciates the marginal gains,... Every little helps
