Jermall Charlo: "Centeno is a tough fighter. He’ll be a hard test but he’s someone who isn’t at my level"

Jermall basically is admitting he's matched against stiffs. What about fighting Jacobs or Andrade?!

Probably Jermall is waiting for that 'meal ticket' from Canelo-GGG winner.

Andrade says that he’s not physically ready for the top dogs at 160lbs just yet (i.e. he has already admitted to having absolutely no interest in facing someone like Billy Joe Saunders, until he’s grown into his new weight class and become a fully-fledged middleweight).

Jacobs is a HBO fighter and that premium cable network rarely works with PBC fighters, unless mega bucks is involved… and Danny isn’t a big draw. Eddie Hearn has also claimed that if Jacobs beats Maciej Sulecki next month, HBO wants to stage a fight between the ‘Miracle Man’ and the winner of the GGG-Canelo bout. So there’s no point in Jacobs taking any unnecessary risks.

Jermall Charlo is already the mandatory challenger for GGG’s WBC world middleweight title, so he doesn’t need to take such a risk when he’s so close to receiving a big payday, such as needlessly putting it all on the line against a high-risk low-return type opponent like Jacobs.

I think that the GGG-Canelo situation is preventing many of the top dogs at 160lbs from facing each other, because so many are reluctant to risk losing an opportunity to receive a huge payday against one of the sports’ biggest stars. And I can kind of appreciate their reasoning.

Haymon still manages him though right?

This is where it could be an issue. Matchroon USA have a contract with HBO, Jacobs would then fight on HBO..

Jacobs is still managed by Haymon, but obviously he has connections to other networks not named HBO..

The thing is, all the other MW's are on HBO, so why not..

I take it Charlo is still a Showtime boy? How is he going to get in with the other guys?

Al Haymon is not Danny Jacobs’ manager. He’s his advisor.

In terms of Jermall Charlo, he doesn’t have an exclusive contract with Showtime, but he is affiliated to that network by proxy of his promoters’ and Al Haymon’s relationship with Stephen Espinoza.

HBO are reluctant to work with Al Haymon, it was proven during the GBP lawsuit, unless mega bucks was involved.

HBO may be forced to allow Charlo to become a future opponent for Canelo or GGG; similar to how they had to allow Jacobs fight Golovkin, because of the purse bid process.

If HBO flatly refuses to sanction Charlo as an opponent for GGG or Canelo, then the WBC title will proceed to purse bids, which could potentially result in that championship becoming vacant. HBO won’t allow Canelo or GGG to compete on Showtime, if GBP or K2 loses the WBC's purse bid.

It seems likely, as per the Kovalev-Stevenson situation, that HBO will ultimately decide whether they’ll allow Charlo face one of their stars for the WBC title.

Both Canelo and GGG are tied with HBO. So if Jermall would fight one of them (wbc mandatory) then I don't see no problem in making of Jacobs vs Jermall fight.

Why doesn't he fight Andrade? Even better, he should take his whooping from Derevyanchenko.
