'Bad Mandatory' or 'Keep Belt Hostage'?

I mean you do have some boxers like Adonis Stevenson who avoid mandatories and still keep the belt hostage by defending once a year..

Stevenson's defense against Badou Jack will already be the 9th defense of a belt he won not even 5 years ago. I guess you talk about Eleider Álvarez, but Adonis defends his belt twice a year, and, as I heard, Álvarez was more than happy to cash in a quite big amount of cash in form of a step-aside fee at least twice... I even think the WBC will remove the unbeaten Colombian Silver champion from the #1-ratings spot if he won't finally step up to the plate by fighting the Stevenson-Jack winner... BTW, Álvarez does not get younger either... :maybe: And no, I am NOT a fan of Stevenson either...

Not putting all the blame on Adonis. I actually like him. He and Alvarez have the same promoter. Why the fight was never made. God knows. I used him as a loose example.

Jack will be Adonis' 3rd fight in 3 years..

He fought Williams in July 2016, Fonfara in June 2017 and now Jack in May 2018.
He fought twice in 2015, twice in 2014 and 3 times in 2013, which included his win over Dawson in June..

This thread wasn't about Adonis Stevenson.. It's simply about what you'd prefer?

How about another choice. Bad mandatories are a part of belt hostage. Perhaps if each governing body would rank the others' champs, we'd see better fights. It's all about power and money. I hate to sound so cynical.

I wouldn't mind that.. but some orgs want more control over who their champion fights as long as it's not a champion from another org.

It's ridiculous and I hate it.
