Haye Expects Joshua To Take Easier Fight Next - Not Wilder
“I don’t see it,” Haye told iFL TV. “My gut instinct says no. Maybe next year.
“If Parker beats Joshua, then there’s a rematch. So Joshua vs. Wilder won’t happen this year.
“There are more lucrative fights out there for Joshua that he might feel are easier.”
Assuming Joshua wins, the WBO or WBA will probably mandate him to fight Povetkin.. If not, does Joshua take an easy fight? Some think Parker is an easy fight.

I think Haye is right. If Joshua wins I can see a summer bill with Joshua v Povetkin and Wilder v Whyte/Browne, possibly in the states

Povetkin would be regarded as an easy fight I agree.. Competitive, kind of like Takam. Joshua easily won all the round vs. Takam, but Takam made it look diffcult at times.
Povetkin has something else about him but age is against him..

Both men should have one more fight each before fighting one another, hype the fight even more.

They should fly wilder over to be at ringside for the parker fight, and then have him hurling insults at Joshua.

That's a very good call, those fights would make perfect sense.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 09:19Maybe Joshua vs. Miller in New Yorkjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 09:17 Both men should have one more fight each before fighting one another, hype the fight even more.

I said before though. I think WBO and/or WBA will order AJ to fight Povetkin.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 09:31That's a very good call, those fights would make perfect sense.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 09:19Maybe Joshua vs. Miller in New Yorkjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 09:17 Both men should have one more fight each before fighting one another, hype the fight even more.

Would probably make more sense to fight a yank, maybe they can get an extension, or ditch a belt.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 09:32I said before though. Haye must think every other fighter in the world is him.
Not every fighter wants to fight car crash dummies & mannequins.

If Joshua beats Parker, his drawing power should go up some. So it would seem sensible to take an easy fight under his new drawing power and collect a bigger pay check than what he used to be able to make for an easy fight.
Re: Haye Expects Joshua To Take Easier Fight Next - Not Wilder
The way I think it will go down is Joshua stops Parker about the 9th or 10th round.... Wilder will try to get up into the ring but security personnel will be looking for him and wall him off... He will return to his seat while Joshua is interviewed for 10 or 15 minutes.. Parker says his piece... And then AJ takes the mike and asks the crowd who they want him to fight next.
They'll scream "WILDER!!!!" .... Then Joshua will say... "If he agrees to terms Wilder WILL be my next opponent." .... Possibly they will interview Wilder in the ring -- but I doubt it... They don't want to give him a thing.

If Joshua beats Parker, like most of us predict, I hope he finds the boys to fight Wilder, instead of letting Hearn talk him into other meaningless fights.
I would be ok if he fights Povetkin next, or Ortiz, while Wilder fights the winner of Whyte vs Brown. After that though, it is going to get uglier than it already is, as far as people accusing AJ of ducking. I honestly favor AJ in the matchup vs Wilder, but don't think he is confident of winning. Maybe he should wait.

I expect AJ to take the fight that get's him the most money, if Povetkin gives him more money as anyone else, it becomes a no brainer.

Anthony Joshua will almost certainly make his US debut against Jarrell Miller in his next outing after the Parker title unification fight.
He's entitled to engage in a voluntary defence of his belts against a relatively soft opponent, since he has earned it.

Re: Haye Expects Joshua To Take Easier Fight Next - Not Wilder
Surely by despatching Takam and (assuming he does) Parker, he should have got the WBA and WBO mandatories out of the way for the moment. Even so I'm sure Eddie would be happy for AJ to fight Povetkin because he is still a prestigious name, without being the formidable threat he once was, or so it seems to me. He's 38 and won't be around forever. Best get in quick while the Vityaz man is still seen as a major player.
Miller at MSG would seem a very sensible introduction to the US for AJ but that isn't so time critical.
The main consideration with AJ fighting Wilder in the UK is the weather. To maximize revenue the obvious place is Wembley Stadium but that really means May to October latest, so it's going to be pushing it if both boxers or either want to squeeze another fight in, if the intention is a 2018 unification in the UK.
Of course this won't be a problem if the venue is Vegas but Joshua would be crazy to fight Wilder there.

Takam was an IBF mandatory.candyslim wrote: ↑18 Mar 2018, 14:49 Surely by despatching Takam and (assuming he does) Parker, he should have got the WBA and WBO mandatories out of the way for the moment. Beating Parker for his WBO title doesn't mean you can't have a WBO mandatory waiting.. WBO and WBA both have Povetkin at #1.. he could be next..
Re: Haye Expects Joshua To Take Easier Fight Next - Not Wilder
Haye is an idiot. Povetkin is Joshua's mandatory. Much harder fight than Wilder.

Povetkin wouldn't last four rounds and would lose to Parker as well.

aj would smash povetkin but i think povetkin would beat parker, joe is throughly mediocre and i think should already have losses to ruiz and hughie. couldnt even hurt raz cojanu either and actually lost rounds in that fight.
Re: Haye Expects Joshua To Take Easier Fight Next - Not Wilder
You're right, Ruthless. I was struggling to digest my alphabet soup there. As you say it was the IBF.

Anthony Joshua beat Carlos Takam in front of a world record indoor crowd of 78K underneath the closed roof of Cardiff's Principality Stadium.candyslim wrote: ↑18 Mar 2018, 14:49 The main consideration with AJ fighting Wilder in the UK is the weather. With the demand for the Joshua-Klitschko bout being so great, Eddie Hearn managed to get the capacity cap at Wembley Stadium increased from the previous record of 80K (for the Froch-Groves rematch) to 90K.
It is highly-likely that he’d be able to repeat the same feat for the stadium that has the fully-retractable roof in Cardiff.
