hey everyone, want to have some giggles?

here's Kalan saying Charles Martin must have been a good win for Joshua, because, uh, he 'won a world heavyweight championship against an undefeated mandatory challenger:

Kalan wrote: 27 Jun 2016, 06:20 Joshua has beaten 4 undefeated Heavyweights in a row: 21-0.. 16-0.. 23-0-1.. and 17-0.. So they were undefeated in 78 fights before they were smashed out by AJ... Charles Martin won a Heavyweight Championship against an undefeated mandatory challenger -- so THAT IS fairly major..
notice he doesn't make any mention of what Glazkov did before the Martin fight- nothing- nor what he did after the fight- nothing- nor does he mention that Martin only won the fight becaue Glaz's knee went

this is typical of the disingenuous posting style of kalan

you want another laugh kids?

here is another post where Kalan says Charles Martin must have been a good win for Joshua, because, uh, he was undefeated. and he's, uh, big:

NOPE!!!! ... He was 6'5" X 247 an undefeated in 25 fights... He must be deserving if he won it... If he were that bad he wouldn't have lasted 3 rounds
thats right, kids, Charles Martin must have been a good fighter, because, uh, he's 6'5 and weighs 247lbs. note how he mentiones NOTHING about what Martin did before fighting Joshua, thats because Martin's atrocious career literally has NO highlights.

but thats ok

punchoutsb wrote: 18 Mar 2018, 22:26 For what it's worth, I called him the worst HW title holder of all time as soon as Glazkovs knee went. Both he and Glazkov getting a title shot was considered a joke at the time since Martin is obviously terrible and Glazkov struggle so bad with Malik Scott and Derrick Rossy. Martin has some pop in his punches and that's all. His technique is garbage, his balance is terrible, he picks his feet up when he throws punches, his chin is poor, his heart is questionable. The "prospects" he beat coming up had manufactured records and his "KO" over Dawejko is impressive until you remember Joey took the fight on a weeks notice and isn't known for being in shape on his best day. If anything, Martin is a good example of how far power can get you in the heavyweight division.

Awesome post. I'd only add that his power is only just above average (for such a big unit), or rather, it's compromised by his lack of punching technique.

Weaver and Tate also hold an advantage over Martin; they've actually beat ranked contenders in the ring without needing a deus ex machina of having them blow a knee. For what it's worth they were also able to throw punches without closing their eyes, lifting their feet, etc.
Again, good post. Despite his record Weaver could KO half-decent fighters, I cannot imagine Martin doing the same.

Well Fury at least won hes titles against the real champion of the division. One that had been undefeated for over decade. And he won it fairly in the ring. No freak injuries or controversy :geek:

Fury was one of the better boxers in Heavyweight History on the night he beat Klitschko... There's no reason to believe he couldn't have done a repeat and gotten much better if he invested some of that new wealth in trainers and worked on his skills as hard as Joshua does... Look how soft Fury always looked compared to Klitschko and Joshua.

The only reason Fury was so strong is he was so much bigger than any top Heavyweight out there... He certainly didn't do push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, back extensions, extensive torso work, sprints, jumps, speed work and weight work, that have been staples for boxers over the last generation... He's a natural boxer... So with any dedication he could have been great but he's never going to come back to even where he left off at age 27... You can still get much better when you're 27.

Buster Douglas tried to make a comeback after years of eating himself fat and screwing off... Douglas said he was in good shape and needed "4 for 5 fights and I'll be the man who fought Tyson." .... He looked terrible

Buster Douglas finished his career 8-1 w/ 5 KO's after the Holyfield loss. Not exactly dreadful. His lone loss was to a prime Lou Savarese (who won vs an undefeated Lance Whitaker in his next fight and had lost a split decision to George Foreman just 2 years prior coming in).

Lou Saverese went out from Tyson's first punch... Kirk Johnson put Lou out early... Micheal Grant beat Lou easily.

And Razor Ruddock won 12 of his last 13 fights (to age 50 something) fighting the caliber of opponent that Douglas was beating... There are literally hundreds of opponents with decent ring record who can't even fight... When Douglas stepped up in class just a LITTLE bit he got his ass destroyed.

It's extremely unlikely that ANY fighter can go off the reservation for years with food, drink, and drugs... and in his 30's or older, train his body back to where it needs to be to beat world ranking contenders... History suggests Fury can't do it.

I interviewed Razor Ruddock before his fight for the Canada heavyweight title in 2001. He said he wanted to fight Tyson for a third time, but he left boxing for about 14 years. When I saw him, he was about 36 years old and still looked in good shape. I don't think he should have come back after a 14 year layoff. He won two fights in 2015 against boxers with winning records, but they were not world-class. After those two fights, he fought the Canada heavyweight champion Dillon Carman and got knocked out. It's on YouTube. Ruddock looked out of shape and slow. Carman is not world-class either and he lost his Canada title by TKO last year.

It's unusual for a boxer to have a decade long layoff and be able to have a successful comeback. George Foreman is the only one that comes to my mind.

I see several made comebacks after lengthy layoffs and won fights, but I saw only one won the same title that he won before the layoff: a Welsh title. I think it's still rare to be at a similar level to what a boxer was before the layoff.

I watched that Ruddock fight from 2015.

His physique was gone, but facially, he looked unchanged from when he was in his 20s & 30s.

He's barely aged in quarter of a century.
