Sky Sports has won the Royal Television Society award for Best Sports Programme for its coverage of Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko.

The Sky Sports boxing team fought off competition from BBC's coverage of the FA Cup final and Channel 4's coverage of the women's European Championship football.

Head of boxing Adam Smith paid tribute to the team and the two fighters. He said: "This is absolutely fantastic we are on top of the world. It has been a brilliant team effort."
So proud of @SkySportsBoxing team and all their hard, passionate work for @anthonyfjoshua @Klitschko...RTS award! pic.twitter.com/M6lZEMhiKG
— Adam Smith (@SkyAdamSmith) March 20, 2018
"This was such a huge fight, and so many people at Sky collaborated for so long and so brilliantly to produce an unforgettable event."

"AJ and Wladimir were the perfect sportsmen from start to finish showing enormous respect for each other in training camps, at the huge final press conference at Sky HQ, right through fight week, and especially after the dramatic finish."

"The night itself was a huge operation, 90,000 at Wembley broke records and the heavyweight battle was one for the ages. Compelling, thrilling and epic."

It was a great show. If they employed a professional commentator it would have been even better.

But fair play, if boxing is winning these awards it can only be good for the game.

He is professional! He gets paid!
But then some white collar fighter gets paid too!
Perhaps we should call him a white collar commentator! He is unskilled but enthusiastic!

Absolute joke that Smith gets awards.

How many fights does this tosser have to ruin before he's off commentary?

i wonder if it will do anything to his commentary. maybe make him cocky and take the growling and barrera references up a notch.

Ha shows what a joke award it is for this hapless gimp to get any type of praise.
He’s a complete turnip and a black stain on the sport. We can only pray he has a Jamie Carragher type incident otherwise we will never be shot of the twat.
