Carl froch coming out of retirement ?

Post by JamieM »

Seen an interview where froch has said he will beat the winner of the super series so looks likely he's eyeing a comeback. Good thing I say

Rematch with groves would definitely sell.

Frog seems the type who would have been in the gym ticking over too.

Froch v Kovalev would be fantastic. Can’t see Carl really coming back though, especially since getting his nose done.

Think he just likes to throw things like this out there every once in a while to stay relevant.

Can't see this happening. He's been retired nearly 4 years man. He said a while ago he'd have been interested in taking on Kessler again when Kessler was thinking of coming back but I really can't see it. He's nothing to prove anyway and can't need the dosh.

Nothing to do with money it's his massive ego that needs stroking again.

I’d prefer it not to happen- he won’t be anywhere near the level he was

He didn't say it like that... he meant he would be able to beat the winner - and went on to suggest the current crop of super middleweights is nothing special. He didn't infer he actually wanted to come out of retirement and fight the winner.

Yeah he was quite slow even at his peak and that isn’t a quality that will have improved through inactivity. Nor will his excellent qualities of fitness and work rate.

he may be right but itd be a different game. how can we know what he has left now at 41 and 4 years inactivity. its not like groves didnt have plenty of success vs the younger froch. i wouldnt be surprised at all if the winner beat him up.

and someone mentioned kov? lol no, although now apparently after dropping and very arguably beating ward, doing way better then anyone else including froch did, kov sucks. but ya, great stuff if 41 year old 4 years inactive froch returned and moved up and fought him

Could he even be medically cleared to fight as he's had a nose job? From what I've heard, you can't box after having laser eye surgery.

Probably mate. He's probably just saying it for the attention isn't he? There can't be any real desire there to actually make a comeback surely?

It won't happen. Back in 2015 Froch said he had no interest in making a comeback and back then reckoned he couldn't make the SMW limit anymore even if he wanted to. At that time he said he weighed 13.7 stone with only 8% body fat. Even if he could boil down it wouldn't be a wise move at his age and I think he knows that.

He said he COULD not WOULD. Also said he got out at right time as he felt he was slipping. OP needs to listen closer.
